Usb to host means that it is the intended to send a midi signal to your computer's host. It may also send audio. A host is like Mixcraft. The USB connection may offer sound card and midi or it may only offer midi.Consult the manual and the CD Rom.It appears that the keyboard comes with software for your computer. This software may be to optimize the audio and handle the midi. Close Mixcraft while installing the software.After you have connected your keyboard to the computer via usb and installed the supplied software start Mixcraft.Under the file menu go to Preferences.This should default to the Sound Device pane. If the sound default pane is not visible click on it in the left. Use the drop down menu to select your Default Recording Device (Input)Next go to the midi pane and selecting that.Under the default Midi input device use the drop down menu to select your keyboard. It's the same kind of cable that would come with a USB printer. If you have a USB printer at home it likely has the exact same kind of cable that this keyboard uses.That will allow you to control virtual instruments in Mixcraft. The only other thing I was wondering about was the lag when I play that I'm going to get. Like when I play/record through my keyboard and mixcraft picks it up, will there be a lag in the sound between when I push the key and when I hear it and it records through mixcraft? I'm sorry for all the questions, I am really new too this kind of stuff. And one last thing, is there anything I can do or some kind of top of the line special kind of cable that would optimize my expierence in what I am trying to do? New 24 Dec 2011 #1 Yamaha MIDI driver install fails I want to hook up a MIDI keyboard to my computer so I can take computer-based playing lessons, but I'm having a problem I hope someone can help with.I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. I have a generic MIDI-USB cable. I plug it in, Windows recognizes it, and installs a driver. I plug the MIDI In cable into the Out socket of a Yamaha PSR260 keyboard, and Out into In, and power on the keyboard. On the MIDI-USB cable, the red power light is on, and the In LED is flashing. So far, so good, but now I'm having troubles.I think that I need to install a Yamaha MIDI driver in order for Windows to recognize my device. I downloaded the UM312x64 package, but when I run setup.exe, it gives me "Error 25001. No device is connected." Can anyone suggest possible next steps? New 24 Dec 2011 #2 Yamaha shows the UX16 USB/MIDI interface as compatible with this keyboard.
