Our VerdictThe setting of Onomichi proves that the long-running series still has some tricks, making Yakuza 6 a worthy finale for its main protagonist.PC Gamer's got your backOur experienced team dedicates many hours to every review, to really get to the heart of what matters most to you. Find out more about how we evaluate games and hardware.Need to knowWhat is it? The seventh Yakuza game, set before Like a Dragon in the chronology.Expect to pay $20/£15Developer RGG StudioPublisher SegaReviewed on GeForce GTX 1070, 32GB RAM, Ryzen 7 3700XMultiplayer? Yes, for minigamesLink Official siteOne of the peculiarities of Sega's PC port release schedule—releasing the series (almost) chronologically, rather than in the order they were made—is it lessens the original impact that Yakuza 6 once had. It's no longer a showcase for the new Dragon engine, because Yakuza Kiwami 2 exists and does that better. And it's not as experimental or new as Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which features turn-based combat and a different protagonist—making it a fine jumping on point for anyone looking to skip ahead to the very latest in the series. That means there are a lot of reasons not to play Yakuza 6, at least not yet. On PC, the entire series has released at a relatively breakneck pace, with the remasters of Yakuza 3-5 all arriving at the beginning of this year. Have you played Yakuza 5? You should: it's wild, arguably the most ambitious the series has ever been, and delightful as a result. Have you

And characterful moments. Majima's having to mature and drag himself away from the allure of living a fantasy, while not losing his wild horse soul. Graphics: RGG's also embraced visual customisation in a more in-depth manner than it ever has before here – not just with your ship, but with putting together custom outfits for Majima that're mix-and-matchable, rather than rigidly set. Sound: The sea dog style ultimate abilities of playing brilliantly weird cursed instruments that summon spectral animals are similarly powerful. Sometimes you do actually need a huge ghost monkey summoned by strumming a riff, you know? Controls: The controls, the feel of manoeuvring your vessel to deliver another broadside blast, the picking away from afar with side-weapons. It's all in there, and it's like slipping back into a nice, warm rum bath. Loot Level ChillReview by Chris WhiteFebruary 18, 2025 Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an excellent return to the world that Infinite Wealth introduced. Playing as Goro Majima in his own adventure has been one of my favourites of the series. × Loot Level ChillReview by Chris White on PlayStation 5February 18, 2025 Gameplay: Majima can use two different fighting styles, with both offering plenty of ways to take on the wealth of enemies you face. The real excitement comes from the Sea Dog style, where Goro can launch his duel blades into enemies, fire a gun to take out distant threats, and use a grappling hook to pull himself towards those out of reach. Story: After waking up with no memory of who you are, you're found on a beach by a young boy called Noah and his cat called Goro. It manages to maintain the feeling of the Like a Dragon series while showing a world upon the seven seas that continually manages to keep you guessing. Graphics: It's staggering how big Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is. Not only do you get to explore new areas like Rich Island, Neke Island, and the ocean itself, you get to return to Honolulu and revisit some familiar jaunts. Sound: There's karaoke, pool, UFO machines, and more, giving you plenty of things to do in your spare time. But Why Tho?Review by Matt SowinskiFebruary 18, 2025 Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is one of the best Like a Dragon/Yakuza spin-offs, joining the likes of Judgment and Like A Dragon: Ishin. It's a fast and frenetic pirate adventure that constantly calls the player back to its high seas, and it's an adventure you won't want to miss. × But Why Tho?Review by Matt Sowinski on PlayStation 5February 18, 2025 Gameplay: Combat in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii takes the

What the Critics Say 100% of critics recommend the game Overall:Transcendent Masterpiece Standout features:Gameplay Release date:February 21, 2025Genre:Action, Action-Adventure, Fighting, RPG All Reviews Summaries One More Game PHReview by Ricki BuzonFebruary 18, 2025 Although Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a spinoff, it boasts a wealth of content that gives it the feel of a full-fledged game. The familiar gameplay elements of exploration and engaging side activities are preserved while adding a straightforwardly simple naval combat that adds to the experience. × One More Game PHReview by Ricki Buzon on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam DeckFebruary 18, 2025 Gameplay: Combat returns to the action-brawling style seen in previous entries, perfectly suited for Majima's wild character. Switching styles on the fly as Majima is an enjoyable mechanic in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, offering players the freedom to eliminate enemies creatively. Story: Adding to the intrigue, Majima suffers from amnesia and assumes the role of a pirate captain, now leading his crew. This unexpected twist in the storyline is surprisingly effective and hooks you in from the first minute. Graphics: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's presentation is visually stunning, featuring diverse biomes that draw the player's attention. Honolulu is bright and lively, while Madlantis exudes a dark and dreary atmosphere, fitting for a haven of pirates and yakuza. Sound: Music remains a major feature in the series, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is no exception. A music player allows you to enjoy your favorite tunes, and new songs like Majima's 'The Sun at 36.5°C' have been introduced. Controls: The controls are not without their flaws, as they seem slightly unresponsive at times, particularly with jumping not registering immediately. Dodging and jumping share the same button, which might cause confusion, especially when paired with camera issues. Daily StarReview by Simon HamalienkoFebruary 18, 2025 Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii may not be what anyone expected, but it's a fitting entry in a series that delights in surprising long-term fans and casual admirers alike. Whether you're interested in building your perfect pirate crew for hours on end, or just want to see the story through, there's a ton of things to do and with Majima around, it's a riot. × Daily StarReview by Simon Hamalienko on Xbox Series X|SFebruary 18, 2025 Gameplay: Majima has always had a unique fighting style that is fun to play, especially if you've spent most of your time playing as Kiryu, who prefers his fists to do the talking. He's got two fighting styles, and each is packed with powerful attacks, from firing a pistol, to creating clones of himself, to summoning a giant shark. Story: In the game's

Series back to its action roots, with Majima effectively being knives in a blender, whirling around and doing damage quickly. Each style is entirely viable, and eventually, being able to swap on the fly between them is a blast. Story: Like any good Like a Dragon story, Pirate Yakuza grounds itself in character. Majima is entirely wild, but he genuinely cares for Noah and the rest of the crew, going to great lengths to keep them safe and help them fulfill their wishes. Graphics: Hawaii, in particular, remains largely unchanged from last year's Infinite Wealth, but that's not a bad thing. The game does a great job of catching up with new players, but for returning fans, it's so much fun seeing these characters again. Sound: Both styles have their own superattack, as well, dealing tons of damage. Mad Dog summons a group of shadow Majimas that fight alongside you, while Sea Dog can play certain instruments to call upon animals that crush groups. Controls: Using Sea Dog style to fire off a pistol shot that rips through multiple enemies, hooking an enemy with a grappling hook to fling Majima over to them, then landing and swapping to Mad Dog to hit them in the air and juggle them makes you feel like a badass every time. GameSpewReview by Richard SeagraveFebruary 18, 2025 All things considered, I don't think any Like a Dragon / Yakuza game in some time has entertained me quite like Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has. While it has some issues typical of the series, such as pacing in its early hours and a camera that often fails to give you the best view during combat, it packs in so much variety that it's hard not be utterly enthralled by it. × GameSpewReview by Richard Seagrave on PlayStation 5February 18, 2025 Gameplay: In terms of gameplay it's undoubtedly the most varied Like a Dragon game yet, with your adventure encompassing everything from sailing the seas, engaging in naval battles, cooking, recruiting crew mates, and taking part in battles against up to 100 enemies at a time. Out on the sea, naval battles add yet another string to Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's bow. Story: Set some time after Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii finds Goro Majima washed up on a shore somewhere after suffering a shipwreck. Getting his memories back is important, obviously, but having learned of legendary pirate treasure his interest is piqued. Graphics: With a wealth of ship upgrades available including cosmetics, you can truly make your ship your own. Numerous sea maps are available, allowing you to explore and disembark at numerous islands in order
