Hello,I've recently started using the free program for virtual audio cables for Windows, called VB-Cable.It works OK for RetroArch and VMWare Player, but for some reason fails for recording game audio from Grand Theft Auto V.Since GTA V does not have an option in its settings to select the sound output device for the game's audio (only for the voice chat function), I had to select it via Windows 10 Settings -> System -> Sound -> App volume and device preferences. In there I selected "CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" as the output device for GTA V.In OBS Studio, under the scene for GTA V, I've added an "Audio Input Capture" source. In its properties I've selected "CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" as the device. In the same dialog, the option "Use Device Timestamps" is disabled, although I don't know if it can affect the recording success or not. The source "Audio Input Capture" is enabled and it is not muted. But while the game is playing sounds, the sound meter for this source does not indicate any activity - the bars stay as if no sound is playing.I even tried capturing not the input source "CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)", but the output one "CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)". Still it did not work.If I try to record the game sounds by capturing the default playback device, it works. But that records all sounds from the OS and other background apps and I don't want that to happen.I even disabled the Windows 10 Game DVR function (thinking that there might be a conflict between the two programs), but that did not help.In Windows Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording -> CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) -> Listening, I've enabled the option for listening to the device and the playback device for listening is set to the "Windows default device" setting. If I don't, I can't here the output sound from the source from which I'm trying to record. I don't know if this setting can affect the success of the recording, but I've decided to mention it just in case it does.Any ideas why I can't record the game sound from GTA V via a virtual audio cable? Thanks in advance!. Can decode. You can double click the VB Cable in the Record tab to set the volume.Forgot to mention, in PDW, click Interface/Setup to get to the dialog I captured above. Hope that helps! #6 That is the way I have them set up. Your screenshots appear to show that you have the sdr sharp audio output OFF #7 Look at the screen capture you took of the recording tab versus the one I posted. See the difference in the audio level? That shows that no audio is getting through the VB Cable, whether it be from the level set to low or you have squelch turned on in SDR# or whatever. You should see a steady audio level in the "meter" under the Record tab next to VB Cable just like a scanner with a discriminator output. If you don't see this audio, there is a problem somewhere and no way that PDW can decode. TrueHarmony, but it was enough to mess things up.If your device has any other DSP you probably won't have Realtek's audio console installed since the brand-name one would be there in its place, try checking for audio processing there.Troubleshooting for me only took about 40 mins and I was already under the impression audio bitrate wasn't being taken into account, but logs showed it was and there were no extra filters being applied by OBS, so it had to be elsewhere. #18 Thank you! I appreciate the info and advice.I was able to get a good result by:1. changing from VB Cable to VB HiFi Cable. 2. I changed OBS sound to 44.1 kHz and set HiFi Cable to match. (For some reason 48 kHz produced unwanted noise?) 3. I verified the output from OBS first by sending the monitor audio to Audacity, recording the track and comparing to the original. 4. Then I set the VB HiFi Cable Output as the Zoom microphone.5. And used the Zoom client audio setting of "use original sound' with 'stereo' and 'high fidelity' options - but not "echo cancellation". To test:With a second pc running the Zoom client, I captured its audio into Audacity and compared the result with a track recording of the same video shared with Zoom's screen sharing (with "use computer sound" and "optimized for video clip" options). Both recorded client tracks were identical - no more muffled sound in the OBS sourced version! So I am delighted to be able to use OBS to design, organize, and drive a program of mixed live and recorded video content (with music) through Zoom to remote attendees - with a client audio experience (as good as/no-worse than) the native Zoom mechanisms.Peace Hello, could you explain to me how do i set my vb cable to vb hifi cable? i have same issues and i have no idea what i have to do to fix itComments
