Both uBlock Origin and its smaller sibling, uBlock Origin Lite, are experiencing problems thanks to browser vendors that really ought to know better.Developer Raymond Hill, or gorhill on GitHub, is one of the biggest unsung heroes of the modern web. He's the man behind two of the leading browser extensions to block unwanted advertising, the classic uBlock Origin and its smaller, simpler relation, uBlock Origin Lite. They both do the same job in significantly different ways, so depending on your preferred browser, you now must make a choice.Gorhill reports on GitHub that an automated code review by Mozilla flagged problems with uBlock Origin Lite. As a result, he has pulled the add-on from Mozilla's extensions site. The extension's former page now just says "Oops! We can't find that page". You can still install it direct from GitHub, though. The good news is that the full-fat version, uBlock Origin, is still there, so you can choose that. Hill has a detailed explanation of why and how uBlock Origin works best on Firefox. It's a snag, though, if like The Reg FOSS desk you habitually run both Firefox and Chrome and wanted to keep both on the same ad blocker. That's because, as The Register warned back in August, Google's new Manifest V3 extensions system means the removal of Manifest V2 – upon which uBlock Origin depends. For now, it still works – this vulture is running Chrome version 130 and uBO is still functioning. It's still available on Google's web extensions. My ublock origin disappeared from address bar and is no longer in firefox addons store . Im using the latest waterfox did they intentionally get rid of ublock orgin or is this some sort of update

Brave doesn’t support Procedural Cosmetics = upward property, or has-text or has or any of that. They are working on some stuff at the moment but they will support procedurals someday. Cyrille December 22, 2022, 8:08am 3 Thank you @anon57438784I installed ublock extension, added custom filters and it works now. If you want to effectively run uBlock, you can always turn off every list and only use My Filters or at least turn off Ignore generic cosmetic filters and turn on Parse and enforce cosmetic filters so uBlock won’t use resources for them. But my filters takes priority and don’t use those settings so you can have procedural cosmetics without having to apply all generic and normal cosmetics from other lists.Or you can just run my filters so you only do cosmetic filters and everything else with Brave’s adblocker, there are still some rules Brave doesn’t support, but 96% will be okay. That’s why I always have uBlock running so I can work around the features that are still not supported by Brave, but I know I can achieve the same behavior in Brave than uBlock, of course, if I need procedural cosmetics since they are not going to have a workaround if they cover too many things I will still be forced to use uBlock. But hopefully early next year Brave get support for Procedurals so uBlock will be less useful for Brave users. fanboynz December 22, 2022, 9:03am 5 youtube.com##[is-shorts] in brave://adblock would cover homepage shorts, while not quite as comprensive, its something. system Closed January 21, 2023, 9:03am 6 This topic was automatically closed 30 days after the last reply. #1 So I started using the beta for Orion Browser on Mac, and it's changed everything. The lightweight functionality and Apple features of Webkit, but without Safari's issues, and unlike Safari IT HAS PLUGINS. Not to mention a compatibility mode for websites designed for Chrome. But then I discovered it's also on the iOS App Store...and the plugins work on iOS as well...Yeah...Safari's done. There's no reason to go back to it at all when Orion exists that is literally just Safari but better. #2 Kagi dot comGreat, so far. Ad blocking is good. Thanks. #3 Kagi dot comGreat, so far.
