Transformers reactivate release date

Transformers fans had a pretty good December back in 2022. A new movie was inbound and then Splash Damage, developer of Batman: Arkham Origins, revealed a trailer (below) for the co-op game Transformers: Reactivate at that year's Game Awards. One to four players would team up and blast their way through a new story in the franchise while coming across fan-favorite characters. January 2025 sees a very different mood now. Splash Damage announced via their X account that Reactivate is being cancelled. “This decision did not come lightly, and it is a difficult time for the studio and our people. We want to take a moment to thank the team who worked on Transformers for their dedication and passion," reads the post in part. Sadly, yes, this will likely result in layoffs at the company. While exact numbers haven't been revealed, the announcement does already mention jobs could be "potentially" at risk of reduction. Yeah, they wouldn't say that at all if there was even a remote chance they would be keeping their entire staff. Splash Damage also took time out in the post to thank Hasbro and express a desire to work with the toy company in the future. That really just leaves Splash Damage with the team working on "Project Astrid," which is a sci-fi project based on a new, original IP. If the company has any other projects in the works, we have yet to hear about them. We hope any impacted employees find work quickly. Transformers: Reactivated is a co-op action game, from developer Splash Damage, and it’s out on Consoles and PC in 2023.The trailer debuted at last night’s Game Awards, and it featured the song Dead or Alive, by Bon Jovi. Well, a cover of that song, at any rate – a weird, mournful version that played while a city was attacked by evil robots.At any rate, the game looks pretty cool, and the trailer showed someone seemingly suiting up in a Transformery mech, kind of reminiscent of Titanfall, in a way. Or maybe there is no person inside, and it's just a regular transformer. We’ll see. The description reads:“The gravest threat to humanity has arrived. And it’s already won.Earth is no longer ours; it belongs to them.Fight back against the Legion in TRANSFORMERS: REACTIVATE, the new 1-4 player online action game from Splash Damage.”Transformers: Reactivate is out on “PC and consoles” in 2023, though we aren’t sure of the specific platforms.
