2025-04-23Her big break. 21. The Wild Thornberrys (1998-2004) Nickelodeon/Paramount A unique series that was ahead of its time, "Thornberrys" was many young viewers' entry point into environmental activism. Eliza Thornberry had the gift of gab: the ability to talk to animals but it had to remain a secret. With her wacky family, she travels the world filming nature documentaries and helping living creatures in need along the way."Thornberrys" ignited a fire in kids by exposing them to the dangers impacting wildlife, including poachers and endangered species, and even partnered with the World Wildlife Foundation. The series received positive reviews and was praised for its feminist stories and dedication to environmental consciousness. It also notably introduced a generation to Tim Curry, via his larger-than-life Nigel Thornberry. For those looking for a smashing good time, "Thornberrys" is now streaming on Paramount+. The feature film, along with "Rugrats Go Wild," is available on HBO Max. 20. Clarissa Explains It All (1991-1994) Nickelodeon "Clarissa" had it all: a rare television format, a surefire catchy theme song, and the magical 90's icon, Melissa Joan Hart. The series had an unmatched educational value in the title character's unquenchable curiosity for the world. It's like "Bill Nye the Science Guy" meets "Ned's Declassified," where Clarissa would have a problem, question, or assignment, and it would be up to her to utilize the resources and experts around her to solve it, thereby also teaching the audience. The LA Times raved about the imaginative series and recommended it for those yearning
2025-04-09“"Oh, I hope I brought my loofah mitt."”―Marianne ThornberryMarianne Thornberry is one of the main characters in Nickelodeon's The Wild Thornberrys franchise and She is Eliza, Debbie, and Donnie's mother and Nigel's wife. She is the daughter of Frank Hunter and Sophie Hunter. She mentions that she attended the University of California, Berkeley and once competed in a rodeo as revealed in "Rebel Without a Trunk". Most of her spare time, she operates the film camera and edits their nature show alongside Nigel.Description[]It takes quite a woman to travel around the world filming a television show about wild animals, and Marianne Thornberry is definitely quite a woman. Marianne hikes, climbs, dives and drives anywhere she needs to in order to get the perfect shot of the animals that she and Nigel need to capture on film for their show. Besides all this, she’s a loving mother and loves her two lovely daughters Eliza and Debbie, as well as her adopted sons Donnie and Darwin. Marianne is always ready for a new adventure, and despite her beauty is able to keep a cool head in the midst of stampedes, earthquakes, floods, and other would-be catastrophes. She’s often voice of reason, an example of this is in one episode she convinces Nigel to just shoot (film) from the bushes they were in that morning. She has shown her fearful side when Eliza got sick and nearly died in "Operation: Valentine". In the episode "The Anniversary", Marianne, despite her disagreements with her mother, Sophie, sided with her on her father's, Frank's and Eliza's attempted escape to collect wood for the bonfire festival in Japan.Looks[]Marianne has peach skin and a pair of white eyes with black pupils. She wears transparent glasses, an orange vest, and blue pants. In colder climates like the Andes, she wears a long sleeve black sweater under her orange vest. Her oldest daughter Debbie inherited her blonde hair, whereas her youngest daughter Eliza inherited her father's red hair, albeit a lighter shade. Eliza gained her impaired vision from Marianne, although it is not known how bad Marianne's vision is.Personality[]Marianne is a strong woman, often the voice of reason and sometimes loses patience with Nigel. She is usually the one to take on disciplinary duties, trying to keep the girls out of trouble and finish their homework.Appearances[]Marianne appears in every episode of The Wild Thornberrys. Her first appearance was in Pilot. Her last appearance was in Eliza Unplugged. Marianne appears in The Wild Thornberrys Movie and Rugrats Go Wild!.She also appeared on a few video games.Relationships[]Nigel Thornberry: Marianne's husband and the father of her two daughters Eliza and Debbie.Debbie Thornberry: Marianne's older daughter.Eliza Thornberry: Marianne's younger daughter. 2025-04-09"Gift of Gab" is an episode of The Wild Thornberrys. This episode of The Wild Thornberrys is a flashback episode. This episode explains how Eliza got her powers and how she met Darwin.Summary[]This is a flashback episode. It explains how Eliza and Darwin met. It also explains how Eliza got her power to talk to animals. This episode has events that has happened two years prior to the start of the series.Synopsis[]The episode starts out with Eliza as a ten-year-old wandering through the jungle in Nigeria. Then she apparently gets eaten by a giant python. Darwin supposedly saves Eliza from a bunch of witch doctors. However, Eliza tells Darwin that it was not the way she remembers it, and she starts to tell Darwin what really happened when they first met each other, and she first got her powers to talk to animals. It all started out two years ago when Eliza was ten years old. The Thornberrys were in Western Africa, shooting their very first Thornberry Documentary. Nigel was driving the ComVee on a really long road, then suddenly, he tells the family to look up in a tree as he sees a bee-eater. He gets distracted and isn't really paying attention to how he's driving. Marianne tells Nigel that maybe he'd enjoy the sights a little more if she was driving and he wasn't. Nigel suggests it's a smashing idea, and Marianne takes the wheel. At their camp site, while Marianne was filming Nigel for the first episode of Nigel Thornberry's Animal World, Eliza looked around. Eliza then suddenly sees a chimpanzee and says hi to him. The chimp then hides, and Eliza tries to speak to him in chimp language to communicate with him. The chimp understands her and walks up to her, and they start to walk together. The chimp then runs up to their table where Debbie was putting on her makeup. The chimp then jumps onto the table and scares Debbie in the process. Debbie then tells the chimp to get away from her and throws one of her makeup supplies at him, making him run off. Eliza then yells at Debbie telling her to not treat a little animal like that, and Eliza runs off to go after the chimp.Eliza goes through the jungle to try to find the chimp. While trying to find him, Eliza suddenly hears a sound. Eliza then finds a warthog with its leg caught in a bear trap, and she decides to help it. So, Eliza grabs holds of the trap and opens it, freeing the warthog's leg. As the warthog walked towards Eliza after freeing it, all of a sudden, the warthog started to transform. The warthog turns into
