The 2m sq ft blockbuster construction project for Hollywood’s Sunset Studios is believed to worth around £600m.The Waltham Cross complex would rival Sky’s new studios in Borehamwood, the Elstree Studios and Warner Bros’ complex in Leavesden, as Hertfordshire looks set to become a hub for the UK’s film industry.Blackstone and Hudson Pacific, which owns Sunset Studios, bought the 90-acre site, located in Broxbourne, for its first expansion of filming and production facilities outside of the US.Aerial view of planned studio located to the north of the M25 junction with the A10, and close to Waltham CrossISG will deliver a fast-track two-year construction programme consisting of the concurrent building of four main hubs, comprising 21 sound stages and nine workshops as well as ancillary buildings.The Sunset Waltham Cross Studios project also includes heritage works to restore existing Grade II listed farm buildings and the creation of significant areas of landscaped green spaces.Groundworks contractor Erith is preparing and levelling the site with main construction expected to start early next year.Paul Serkis, project director at ISG, said: “With speed of delivery a primary driver, Sunset Waltham Cross Studios embraces a Modern Methods of Construction focused methodology, benefitting from off-site construction opportunities, all while fostering strong sustainability goals.“Sunset Studios is a global leader responsible for shaping the world’s film and TV landscape as we know it today.“We’re proud to be working with them and to be a part of the delivery of this transformational project, creating prosperity and real legacy for the UK’s creative industry and local community.”He added: “This builds on other projects ISG has delivered in the creative sector albeit on a much smaller scale until now.”The project team includes Leonard Design Architects and Arup providing both structure and building services designThe project is underpinned by strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets.The development will generate significant amounts of its own energy through a large photovoltaic installation and further reduce its consumption of resources through rainwater harvesting and re-use.Enhancements to biodiversity are also prioritised with the delivery of green space to the south of the site, with a public right of way footpath running through it.

This is likely indicative that there aren't many people going back to see the film a second time. It isn't doing badly at the box office, but it also isn't doing great either. The reviews from critics weren't extremely positive, and while the audience reaction seems much more positive, people are a little mixed on it. Last month, Warner Bros. released Dune to much more critical acclaim though there were some people that didn't like the pacing or the structure of the movie because it was a little weird. For Dune, they are setting up an entire universe with customs, political intrigue, and multiple worlds, and all of it is important and not something that can be trimmed down or ignored. Director Denis Villeneuve likely thought this was the right way to go because there is going to be a second movie. Now they can just dive into the second movie without needing to worry about any of the build-up [as we said, Dune is paced like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies]. Eternals, on the other hand, is introducing an entirely new area of the Marvel universe. There is a lot of lore to go over to make the stakes of this movie really make sense. However, exposition is not something that most audiences tend to enjoy watching. So, the second time you watch both of these movies, you can just let the exposition roll over you because you already know it. You can just enjoy these slower moments for what they are and digest how this exposition is going to impact the overall movie.Another thing that Dune and Eternals have in common is strange pacing and structure. Most people go into a movie expecting a classic three-act structure because that is how films are usually presented. It doesn't mean that movies that are structured or paced like that are bad; it just means that there needs to be some adjustment to make sure you're holding your audience's attention. However, unlike the electric lift there are no motors attached to the cars. In this case the vehicles are literally “pushed” up the spiral lift hill. A central rotating structure inside of the spiraling track makes contact with a wheel on an arm attached to the vehicle. As the structure rotates the wheeled arm rides up the structure until it reaches the top where the track pulls away from the structure and gravity takes over again. This technology is found in Zamperla’s Flying coasters, three of which exist in the North America, Soarin’ Eagle at Scream Zone (formerly the Flying Coaster at Elitch Gardens), Superflight at Rye Playland, and Timewarp at Canada’s Wonderland, as well as Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey at Universal Studios Singapore.Ferris Wheel LiftAnother highly unusual device to get the coaster vehicle to its highest point is the Ferris wheel lift. One of these was actually built at Freestyle Music Park (now closed and formerly called Hard Rock Park) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A single car was rolled out of the station and onto a short piece of track attached to a rotatable ring fixed to the inside of a Ferris wheel.
