#1 Hello,I've followed guides from solar-assistant.io to configure my HA, i see incoming messages but autodiscovery not working and entities not created If any has experience with it and any idea ..welcome #2 @patrick56770, I got mine hooked up without issue.Here's the steps that I took:1. Got solar assistant flashed to the MicroSD card, Solar Assistant (SA) booted and connected to the network, and successfully connected to my EG4 6000 inverters. I am assuming that everything is working properly with your SA install.2. On the bottom of the SA setting screen, I started MQTT, then enabled discovery.3. In Home Assistant (HA), I added the MQTT integration, then entered the IP address of SA. Note that since you are using an IP address in HA, it would be best practice to configure your RPi running SA to use a static IP address or DHCP reservation.4. When I hit next, it discovered everything in SA and the data began flowing without issue.5. I disabled discovery.I did have a couple of specific settings that were not discovered at first, but that's because SA is not able to read 100% of everything on a slave inverter when only one USB cable is connected. So I connected a second USB cable to my second inverter, then enabled discovery in SA, and used the 're-configure mqtt" option in HA to pick up the missing entities.Hope this helps, but I suspect that you have been through these steps before. #3 I have the same issue, any word on this? #4 I've had the MQTT / Home Assistant set up for as long as Solar Assistant has made it available. On Monday this week however the SA MQTT stopped populating the Energy Total topics. All the rest of the topics are working fine.SA suggested rebooting both SA & HA but there's no difference. It's a pain as the energy totals are important for system performance tracking.Still waiting for SA response. #5 I've had the MQTT / Home Assistant set up for as long as Solar Assistant has made it available. Corrected itself as of Monday morning our time. The MQTT energy total topics are now being populated again.View attachment 171530I lost a week of data, so I recreated it from the SA charts data export function and laboriously corrected my Home Assistant statistics for the four energy channels for the week. Ugh that's painful (and an aside as HA have made it very difficult to upload historical data - which is a shame).The only possible causal factor I can think of was our time zone change to daylight savings on the morning before this happened. I have had MQTT data loss before following a TZ change.I still don't like the way the energy accumulation topics are reset to zero every Monday morning. It results in a missing hour of data for the midnight to 1AM interval every Monday morning. I know this is a late reply, but did your Solar Assistant stop reporting energy states on the last transition to DST? My Solar Assistant did the same exact thing this past Sunday morning. Its now Tuesday and the HA energy dashboard is still showing all zeros.The energy state topics are being reported every minute, but they are always zero.If I publish a non-zero value via MQTT Explorer, the HA energy dashboard picks it up and displays the value properly. #1 I have 2 Growatt SPF 3000TL LVM (in parallel) connected to 3 280AH LiFePO4 battery banks (also in parallel) each with a separate Daly BMS. This set up is for an off grid vacation home where I am gone 1/2 the year. I have been using Growatt ShineServer cloud/web based monitoring, which has worked without problem the last couple of years but because my batteries do not communicate with the Growatt inverters I am not able to monitor individual battery /cell voltages or SOC.I have read that Solar Assistant now supports Growatt SPF inverters and Daly BMS. I have also read about problems with SA/Raspberry PI crashing and needing rebooting, etc. I need something that is reliably going to work for the 6 months I am away.So questions to all the SA/Pi users.1) Is SA and Pi a reliable solution for remote monitoring/control?2) Can SA monitor 2 inverters and 3 BMS all at the same time (Doesn't the PI only have 2 USB input ports, wouldn't I need like 5?)3) What version Raspberry PI should I get or should I consider the Orange Pi which it appears is what SA is using for its pre bundled package? nc73 Solar Enthusiast #2 yes, yes and you can just go by what they recommend for the version. Has not failed me yet. No reboots or anything. #3 Great endorsement. So how do you deal with the limited USB ports on the PI, use an external USB hub? #4 1) Absolutely. Mine has been on for almost 18 months now, with the only reboots when it looses power.2) The Pi 4 has 4 USB ports. You should only need communication from the 2 inverters, and your 1 Master BMS. I don't think the Daly BMS's have communications with each other, which is the downside here. Solar Assistant is looking for 1 BMS, being a Master, and any other BMS's are "Slave" units, sending all their data to the master, which then the master relays to Solar Assistant. Not sure how yours would handle that.3) Thats going to be up to you. Getting the Pi through them makes it easier though. #5 The new Solar Assistant pie has only 3 usb ports, one on three sides. You can run a power hub if you need more USB ports The mini hdmi port is gone. Still has Ethernet port which works very well. T-Mobile updated the router and SA wouldn’t stay connected on Wi-Fi so I just connected it with a cat 8 cable and it’s rock solid and faster. Problem with my router. #2 No, looking at the website for Solar Assistant, they only provide the whole OS image, and they are designed for Raspberry Pi 'Arm' CPU architecture, not x86 / x64 CPU architecture found in common laptop hardware.EXAMPLE:"The Raspberry Pi 4 uses a Broadcom BCM2711 SoC with a 1.5 GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A72 processor, with 1 MB shared L2 cache."There are also other specific hardware used (like network adapter, USB, I/O support, etc) which require supported drivers burned into the image as well.Here is a screenshot from Solar Assistant website showing their hardware support:Theoretically, if someone had the source code, they could possibly port the OS to work on one of the newer M1-style Macs (or other brand laptop) which have Arm processor in them, but it would take someone with strong Linux skills, good with compiling kernels and whatnot, porting drivers, a total diehard. They would find lots of bugs and issues, and would take several builds to get it going with all peripheral support...It would honestly be easier to port the source over to a smart phone (still a huge feat)... #1 Guys I am having problems with the inverter failing to communicate with Solar Assistant. It appears the USB is unstable for long term use with Solar Assistant and the SG / SRNE 10k. @marionw @Kenny_ @42OhmsPAI want to get the communication from the batteries (485 Pylontech) to report to Solar Assistant directly and report the SOC and use another USB to 485 to talk/give automation commands to the inverter. Does anyone know if this possible? @marionw would I need (2) 485 cables or a 232 cable for the batteries? I guess I would need to figure out what the pin outs are.I think @marionw has an old post where he identified pin outs. Any tips appreciated guys. I have to get away from USB-B. #2 My SA is connected via USB to my inverter and via usb to 485 to my master battery.It has crashed on occasion but rarely... have to restart the Pi.... when I first installed SA I had the Pi sitting on top of the inverter and the usb cable running from below up beside it to the top and it crashed constantly.... I think the USB cable was picking up RF and causing it to crash... after moving the pi down below the inverter (sitting on my master battery actually) it rarely crashes... maybe twice in a year... These are the cables I'm using with the ASPs. Monoprice USB Type-A to USB Type-B 2.0 Cable - Gold Plated, 28/24AWG, 3 Feet, White Pi sits on my wire trough below the loads panel, between the ASPs. SRNEs are connected directly to the Pi and the 4 JBDs go to an old USB hub I had laying around. I used the USB adapters from Overkill. #4 Please note that some inverters (and manufacturers) have reported problems using the USB 2.0 Type-B Male (squarish looking connector with two rounded corners) with Solar Assistant, there may be ground loop issues between the Raspberry PI and the AIO.Andy's Off Grid Garage discusses issues with "non" isolated communications.I use isolated RS485 to USB converters between my computer and my Inverter and batteries as well as inputs to Solar Assistant.See:First, do you have the pinout of each RS485 port.The EG4 Lifepower4 batteries for example use pins 1&2 as an RS485 bus as well as pins 7&8 as a second RS485 bus in the same RJ45 jack.I purchased a RS485 to USB Converter:RS485-USB-ConverterUsing a spare cat5 cable, just cut off the RJ45 connector on one end, remove about 3 inches of the outer insulation then you can connect the correct pair of wires to the RS485 to USB Converter and plug the RJ45 connector on the other end to the correct port on the battery.Look at the RJ45 connector on the cable (With my tired old eye I.
