Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill F ET Silent Hill

Silent Hill is back, and sooner than you might have expected. Sony and Konami teamed up to create a brand new title in the series as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Best of all, Silent Hill: The Short Message is free and you can play it today. The game brings the series bang up to date. For one thing, we see protagonist Anita using a smartphone. She ventures inside a crumbling apartment block after receiving messages from her friend. But this is no ordinary building. There have been rumors of suicides there, and it won't be long until Anita discovers "bizarre, otherworldly spaces, haunted by a twisted monster."This is the first of several new Silent Hill games that are in the pipeline. Producer Motoi Okamoto wrote on the PlayStation Blog that The Short Message started as an experimental project that helped newer developers who are Silent Hill fans get some hands-on experience with the franchise. The team also wanted to explore how social media could fit into a psychological horror game. Konami and Sony decided to release it for free to help newcomers to the series get a sense of what it's all about (hint: scary stuff).Meanwhile, Sony and Konami also offered a fresh look at the Silent Hill 2 remake Bloober Team is developing. There's still no timeline for that project's arrival just yet, unfortunately. Players will not find intense combat encounters or labyrinthine maps like in the older games. Its story tries to go back to the roots of the series as it explores similar themes of psychological trauma and guilt that older games like Silent Hill 2 tackled. It is difficult to complain about a free game, but it is also impossible not to compare it to P.T., a standard that, by all accounts, it fails to live up to. 13 Silent Hill: Book Of Memories A Dungeon Crawler Spin-Off That, While Fun, Is Far Removed From The Silent Hill Formula Silent Hill: Book of Memories Systems If Book of Memories hadn't been Silent Hill, it might not have been as big of a success. A dungeon crawler for the PS Vita wasn't what people wanted from the survival horror series. While most appreciated the nods to the franchise's history, many felt the gameplay lacking when compared to its contemporaries in the genre. It is also by far the longest Silent Hill game, so anybody prepared to leap better strap in for a lengthy experience. In terms of popular franchises spanning more than two decades, one could do a lot worse than the weakest game in the series, even though it shares very little in common with the mainline entries. Fortunately, it is all uphill from here. 12 Silent Hill: Downpour (2012) A Respectable But Uneven Attempt To Reclaim The Glory Years After a couple of entries took the series slightly off track, Downpour tried its best to recapture some of what made the classics so iconic. Most reviewers acknowledged this effort, praising the more open areas encouraging exploration, but lobbied complaints at other facets of its design like combat, enemies, and performance. While it managed to succeed in one

This is Silent Hill Heaven: The Ultimate Special Place for fans of Silent HillKonami’s Silent Hill franchise first debuted on the PlayStation in 1999, and established the series’ reputation for unsettling psychological horror. The series has now sold over eight million copies worldwide and is now considered one of the most influential horror franchises of all time. The follow-up sequel – seminal masterpiece Silent Hill 2 – was equally well received due to its unsettling atmosphere and masterful creature designs. Silent Hill 3 arrived in 2003, then came the utterly unique premise of Silent Hill: The Room just a year later.A prequel, Silent Hill Origins, hit the handheld PSP in 2007, closely followed by the global release of Silent Hill Homecoming in 2008, Shattered Memories in 2009, and then Silent Hill HD Collection, Book of Memories and Downpour released in 2012.Oh, and then there was that little playable teaser from Kojima Productions in 2014 entitled P.T., which is now widely regarded as one of the most terrifying horror games of all time… even if it didn’t quite ever become a full video game (yes, we’re still grumpy about it).The Silent Hill franchise has also since expanded with two major motion pictures and a comic series. And now, Silent Hill is back! 2023 saw the launch of Genvid’s Silent Hill Ascension interactive series, and an all-new playable teaser, ropped at January 2024’s State of Play presentation exclusively for PS5 players… and that’s not including the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which is set to release on PS5 and PC on October 8, 2024.With two new entirely new Silent Hill games still on the way – Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill f – as well as new movie Return to Silent Hill, there’s never been a better time to be a pay a visit to Silent Hill…
