Description of this game is in its name “Samsara Room”. The word “Samsara” comes from Sanskrit and it means “the cycle of death and rebirth to which life in the material world is bound.” The protagonist is placed inside a room of judgment in which it’s determined where his soul is going to end up next. In the room, his soul is transformed into several forms until he finally returns to the real world as a newborn.The story of this game is tied to the overall lore of Rusty Lake so if you want to have a more complete experience of the whole story we recommend that you play other games made by the studio Rusty Lake. In this walkthrough, we will show you how to solve all the puzzles and finish the game.To go straight to the secret level you can use the jump button in the lower right corner.In the first/human dimension of the room, you will need to find 4 candles and a fish. You can find the first candle on the cupboard inside the plant pot in the first room.After grabbing the first candle go into the next room to the left. On top of the drawer, there is a box with a turning puzzle within it.The holes on the circles on the left and right should be turned to the middle circle and two squares that block the third circle can be moved left and right releasing the middle wheel. When moved the mid-wheel releases a golden square and that square is dragged lower and unlocks the box. Inside the box, there is the second candle.The third candle can be found in the first drawer from the floor.In the second drawer, you will find the fish, in the third from the bottom, you will find a knife.Back in the first room, where you started, go to the table with a telephone and a letter. Use the knife to open the letter, in the letter you will find a paper with all the symbols that will help you move between room dimensions. At the top of the letter, it is written: “enlighten me” which is a solution to the next piece of the puzzle.When putting down the letter, pick up the phone, out of the receiver letters would scatter around and out of you will need to arrange the last clue sentence: “enlighten me”. When you solve it a matchbox will drop from the ceiling. When you solve it a matchbox will drop from the ceiling.From the first room go right into the next room, within it there is a window and behind the window, there is a painting of a landscape. Most part, it’s merely the player and the room. As the game progresses, the room changes its disposition from a simple four-walled room to an underwater room, an upside-down room, and much more. In a way, each of the puzzles and items could be considered characters that are, for the most part, interactable. So in that sense, each “character” has the function of helping the player discover more about the room while providing a growing sense of the game’s overarching message. Each puzzle helps the player exercise patience amidst learning more and more about this peculiar world. STORY 9/10The player starts off waking up in a room with green and pink floral wallpaper that peels in some parts. There are tiny creatures and obscure items that, when interacted with, help the player figure out each mystery in the strange room. As the player progresses from room to room, there’s a shadow with hollow eyes in a mirror who recites small commentary about the self. Each mirrored shadow has a little clue that requires long-term memory to inform the player along the way. Each puzzle pulls the player deeper and deeper into the world until its heart is finally reached. The puzzles seem increasingly dynamic and fun as the game progresses, giving the player a growing sense of pride and opening up the heart of the game’s message. I don’t plan on spoiling the fun any further — go play and see for yourself!Samsara Room was the perfect escape. This game created a world that exercised my mind and gave me room to wonder as I wandered. In Sanskrit, the word “samsāra” means “world” or “wandering” regarding cyclical change. Indeed, Samsara Room is a reminder of how change is inevitable. No matter how much escaping we do, we’re encouraged to explore each mystery the world around us has to offer. OVERALL 8.6/10I had a blast playing through Samsara Room, from the obscure items to the twists and turns that duped me at nearly every corner. I highly recommend the levels of depth this game offers. Samsara Room is just one of over 15 games created by Rusty Lake, an indie game studio founded by Robin Ras & Maarten Looise in Amsterdam. From the brilliant minds that introduced us to the eerie world of Rusty Lake comes their most peculiar creation yet, Samsara Room.You wake up in a room surrounded by obscure objects and puzzles. You need to find a way out. Welcome to the Samsara Room, where you explore curiously the calming confines of a transformational room and solve each of the puzzles using resources you discover along the way. GRAPHICS 10/10The developers of Samsara Room really know how to please their players with tiny aesthetic elements within the depths of this 2D game. At the start of this game, I was really impressed with the clean and effortlessly reactive solid lines of the play button as I hovered my mouse over it. I knew I was going to enjoy this game even though I knew nothing about it yet. I was tickled by the tiny ripple every time I clicked the mouse. I loved the solid lines around each of all the items that I interacted with. The clean lines made this game slick and clear, a nice contrast to its mysterious puzzles. These subtle yet impactful nuances created an immersive siren song. I couldn’t help wanting to see what would happen next. SOUND QUALITY 9/10I was delighted with the crispiness and impeccable timing of each click and action in this game. When you open up objects or solve puzzles, there are delightfully peculiar sounds and background music that inform you that you’ve moved on to the next clue. The sounds add dynamic and color to the story and an extra layer of context to each mysterious twist and turn. The low hum sound creates a sense of solemn solitude in the midst of figuring out how to solve each puzzle. GAMEPLAY 8/10Samsara Room is a point and click adventure game. There’s a familiar aspect of frustration in the quest to figuring each puzzle out, reminiscent of an escape room if you’ve ever experienced one. Luckily for the player, there’s no time limit. The player can take their time mindlessly exploring the game as they search for every item. However, if you’d like a challenge and a little more excitement, you can race against yourself to get the quickest run-through! I had a great time playing through this game. It took me approximately three and a half hours to play all the way through. What can I say? I like to take my time. CHARACTERS 7/10There are no playable characters in this game. You can find water on the mirror in the first room. When you zoom in on the mirror left to your shrimp-like appearance there is a droplet of water, pick it up. In the Altar room zoom in on the box to the left of the Altar and light the twigs on fire, pick up the fire.To the right of the Altar there is a turned over pot, tap on it and it will expel sand from it, take the sand.Right underneath the Altar there is a phone zoom in on it and pick up the headphone, random numbers will appear, move them so they look like a clock dial when you succeed in moving the numbers clock arms will show up as well placed at 2:45.In the drawer room, you will find the smashed up drawer and smashed up grandfather’s clock.Zoom in on the drawer and take the pencil.Go up to the clock and move the clock arms to 2:45, this will open the top department of the clock and reveal a vial.Now in the clock room, there is a Giant Shrimp, there is Samsara written in Sanskrit above the Shrimp. Pull apart the Shrimp until it reveals the body of the dead man. Zoom in on his head and open his mouth. His mouth will be full of green fluid, pick the green elixir with the vial that you have gotten out of the clock.Go back to the first room where the mirror is placed, on the table, there is a paper tap on it while you have the pencil equipped, a key will be drawn, tap on the paper and it will crumple into a ball, uncrumple the drawing
