Service Host: Local System High Disk, CPU and Memory Usage [100% Solved]Depend on your own case and pick up a solution within the following sections:If you see a process called Service Host: Local System is using up all of your computer or laptop resources in Task Manager in Windows 10, 8 or 7, it's time to read this post from the beginning to the end and pick up a solution to stop Service Host: Local System from taking high disk usage, CPU usage, memory usage or too much network bandwidth.By pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del, you can easily get the quick access to Task Manager. Stay on the first Process tab, by scrolling down you should find many Service Host related processes, such as Service Host: Local System (Network Restricted), Service Host: Local Service, Service Host: Network Service, etc. From what we learned, Service Host: Local System is the major cause of Windows 10 100% disk usage in Task Manager. So, what is exactly the term and why is it consuming resources out of control? Let me tell you.Service Host: Local System is a bundle of system processes, or call it a generic service hosting container. It includes processes including Windows Auto Update and many required system services would be running in it. That's why it's very likely to take up huge disk, memory, RAM and even network bandwidth, draining computer resources, especially after getting a Windows 10 update. How to solve Service Host: Local System high disk usage, CPU usage or memory usage?Solution 1. Restore hard drive health and optimize systemFirst. Download Qiling partition manager on your computer or laptop and launch it after install.Free DownloadWindows 11/10/8/7, 100% SecureNext. Go to complete the whole procedure of hard drive repair and system optimization with software.# To restore hard disk health back to normal state:3_Let the software automatically check and repair hard drive errors and system file errors that happen to eat away all your available resources.# Continue to optimize your computer by removing redundant network data, files and system logs1_ Click System Optimize under Tools in Qiling Partition Master.2_ Click one by one the options for Junk File Cleanup, Large File Cleanup and Disk Optimization. All are working solutions to get rid of 99% or 100% usage of disk, CPU, and memory.Solution 2. Directly disable Service Host Local System tasksStep 1. Assuming that you're in the Task Manager. Expand the Service I've noted recently that Windows 7 on my machine has been complaining about running out of memory and that I should close some programs. It would then usually point out a program I have running that does have a memory leak and has grown quite large. However, usually these programs start at 20MB of RAM usage and only after running the program between 12 to 24 hours do they grow to, at most, 200MB of RAM usage. I never have more than three of these programs running at the same time, so 600MB of RAM usage max I have ever seen from my running programs. I am running Windows 7 x64 on a machine with 4GB of RAM. At first I actually forgot this and would just restart the programs when Windows complained, but now that I remembered, the fact that Windows is complaining about me using 600MB of RAM (under 2GB even if you include memory used by the OS itself) seemed odd. So I pulled up the system process window to look at my total memory usage from my processes and system processes that were listed. It added up to just over 700MB, so I was still confused. Then I went to the Resource Monitor and opened the Memory tab. There I think I found my answer. It noted that I was actually only using 33% of my RAM. However, on the Physical Memory resource allocation bar, the Modified section was up to 2.3GB, the Standby section was up to 540MB, the Free section was under 20MB, Cached memory was listed at 2.8GB and Available memory was listed at 550MB. (These values being slightly rounded, of course, as thy are constantly changing as I write this.)So apparently Windows 7 is using more memory than I am. I did, at some point in the past, make some modifications to the installed Windows services menu but that was only to disable certain hosting services, since I didn't want to do any media sharing, to enable the Telnet client, and remove Internet Explorer, but it could be my fault. Is there any way to make Windows not do this or at least cache a lot less aggressively so I stop getting these "Low on Memory" notices?Windows Explorer high RAM usage
With today’s modern machines mostly equipped with high capacity RAM and multi-core processors, issues created by processes gobbling up vast amounts of the system’s resources have largely been negated. However, for those who run machines with lower resource specs, in this case specifically RAM, here’s a great little program called Process Piglet which monitors running processes for high memory usage.Even those users running machines with sufficient or ample RAM will find this little application useful for identifying memory leaks and over enthusiastic processes.Process Piglet has been developed by “Mouser” over at DonationCoder and is available in both installer and portable versions. I, of course, elected for the portable version.Process Piglet – Download and usageDownload is a 1.29 MB zip folder extracting to 2.94MB (Windows 7 64-bit). As one would expect, coming from such a reputable source, it scans 100% clean through Virus Total.Running Process Piglet is simply a matter of double clicking the extracted executable. Process Piglet does not include any interface as such, the software places an icon in the system tray which provides access to its limited options via a right click menu:Settings, which are available via “Edit Options” in the right click menu, are also pretty straightforward. There aren’t too many variables to worry about with this type of software, and the defaults are best suited for most users anyway.Because Process Piglet is only concerned with high RAM usage, it ignores any processes under 50 MB RAM by default and monitors only those above that number. This parameter can be adjusted by the user of course:It is possible to also add processes into an exclusions list so they will be ignored by Process Piglet altogether.Process Piglet picks up each new application as it’s opened, monitors RAM usage for around 30 seconds to establish a baseline, and then adds it to an inventory of all running processes which meet the criteria. The full list can be accessed at any time simply by double clicking Process Piglet’s system tray icon:Right clicking on any item in the list will bring up a menu which includes an online search option to help identify unknown processes:Once up and running, every time a process starts consuming more RAM than normal, Process Piglet will pop up an alert. When such an alert is shown you may choose to ignore it – you will be alerted again later if memory usage continues to increase – or you can use Process Piglet to forcibly terminate and restart the application.**Please be careful with the force restart feature, utilizing it under certain conditions may impact negatively – e.g. it is not advisable to forcefully restart a process which is using memory to store unsaved data or is activelymemory - High RAM usage by Windows 7 - Super User

It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. #1 Hi all,I've noticed by cpu and disk usage are relatively high when playing games.Although it could just be the games using it all up, I'd prefer to have a good enough part so that games won't use the entire cpu/diskAll in all, which parts would need an upgrade to fix this?Edit: changed wording down belowI guess what I'm asking is When I play my cpu usage and disk usage both spike up to around 99%. I would like to maybe use chrome in the background or have anything open in the background. I usually close everything since the usages are so high. So I am considering upgrading the parts that control CPU usage or Disk usage.Side notes: My gaming experience is consistent and smooth. Not staggery or anything. My main concern is the usage being dangerously high Oct 5, 2016 9,659 62 75,340 #2 Jenna, I believe your asking why when playing a game your cpu and hard drive usage is so high? well the answer varies from game to game but yes in general games are hog for cpu, memory and hard drive usage. if you feel the game is not "working well or lagging or choppy" then some things can be considered to be upgraded, video card is a common and easy upgrade, if you only have 4gb or ram on your system one would suggest 8GB or 16GB, but that is only if you have windows x64 bits, because x32 bit windows only handled up to 4gb of ram to work.
