2025-04-01The Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI), originally published in 1992, has been revised as a computer adaptive test (CAT) – the PEDI-CAT. The PEDI-CAT measures abilities in three functional domains: Daily Activities, Mobility and Social/Cognitive. The PEDI-CAT’s Responsibility domain measures the extent to which the caregiver or child takes responsibility for managing complex, multi-step life tasks. The PEDI-CAT can be used with all clinical diagnoses and across all settings. As with the original paper-pencil PEDI, the PEDI-CAT can be administered by professional judgment of clinicians or educators who are familiar with the child or by parent report. This computerized adaptive version of the PEDI is intended to provide an accurate and precise assessment while increasing efficiency and reducing respondent burden. The PEDI-CAT software utilizes Item Response Theory (IRT) statistical models to estimate a child’s abilities from a minimal number of the most relevant items or from a set number of items within each domain. All respondents begin with the same item in each domain in the middle of the range of difficulty or responsibility and the response to that item then dictates which item will appear next (a harder or easier item), thus tailoring the items to the child and avoiding irrelevant items. The CAT program then displays the results instantly.Intended PopulationThe PEDI-CAT is designed for use with children and youth (birth through 20 years of age) with a variety of physical and/or behavioral conditions.ApplicationsIdentification of functional delayExamination of improvement for an individual child after interventionEvaluation and monitoring of group progress in program evaluation and researchFeatures2 Versions: Speedy and Content-Balanced4 Domains: each domain is self-contained and can be administered separately or with the other domainsScores: Normative standard scores (provided as age percentiles and T scores) and Scaled Scores; available for 21 age groups (intervals of one year)Age, gender and mobility device filters prevent irrelevant items from being presentedItems are worded using everyday language and clear examplesIllustrations of Daily Activities and Mobility items included to facilitate understanding of item intentAvailable forPCs and an online versionPrivacy Statement and Conditions of UseClick here for a link to the Privacy Statement and Conditions of UsSenior AuthorsStephen M. 2025-04-14Pedi STAT EMS was developed specifically for prehospital providers. We’ve taken all the content from our original Pedi STAT application and carefully selected components that are unique to providers in EMS. We’ve solicited feedback from leaders in out of hospital care, including paramedics, EMTs, air medical flight crews, and medical directors. We’ve condensed the content to be applicable to those providing care outside the hospital, including first responders, firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics, and Critical Care Transport providers.Medication dosing and pediatric equipment sizes are easily and rapidly accessed, and accurately calculated based on provider input of either weight, length, age, or Broselow / Pediatape weight estimates. We are attempting to eliminate medical errors by calculating not only the correct pediatric medication dose, but also the volume to be administered for patient specific conditions. We have also included algorithms and medical calculators to assist providers in multiple areas, including managing pediatric cardiac arrest, burn size estimation and fluid resuscitation, and Glasgow Coma Scale.Caring for pediatric patients is associated with a large number of challenges, the most important being selecting the correct equipment and medications, and then dosing the medications correctly. Our goal is to eliminate these challenges as much as possible, and allow the provider to concentrate on what is most important, the patient.Suggestions for improvements or additions are always welcome: Pedi-STAT.com ما الجديد ١٢ أكتوبر ٢٠٢٤الإصدار 5.1.2 This update fixes a bug associated with weight and height entries requiring decimal points. التقييمات والمراجعات Super useful for Medic or RN school!
