Finally, I dusted flour over each timer and wiped them down with a damp cloth to see how easy they were to clean. What We Learned Multiple Timers Were the Most Versatile The best kitchen timers have multiple countdown options, with unique beeps.Serious Eats / Jesse Raub The most versatile kitchen timers I tested had at least three inputs, allowing cooks to make busy bake days or elaborate dinner prep more organized. I particularly liked it when each timer had a unique beep. The ThermoWorks TimeStick Trio, OXO Good Grips Digital Kitchen Timer, and ThermoWorks TimeStack all beep once for timer one, twice for timer two, and three times for timer three, so you know which one is going off even from across the room. Backlit Displays Were Key for Visibility OXO's timer display was the easiest to read in low-light and bright conditions.Serious Eats / Jesse Raub LCD screens can be hard to read in low-light conditions, so I liked displays that were backlit. The OXO timer had a particularly great display, using contrasting lighting to show a blue-ish number on a dark background. This made it easier to read from across the room since the contrast was very sharp. Other models, like the TimeStick Trio, TimeStack, and ThermoPro TM02 had a button to trigger their illumination. However, since it turned off automatically, it was only useful when you had the timer in your hand. Still, this was better than models with no backlight, like the Marathon Direct Entry Timer. Depending on how the sunlight was filtering into the kitchen, I had to rotate the timer to read the screen better. Adjustable Volumes Were Appreciated Some of the timers were too loud—so adjustable volume was appreciated.Serious Eats / JesseComments

2025-03-25Callback function character vector | string scalar | function handle | cell array Timer error callback function, specified as a character vector, string scalar, function handle, or cell array. If there is an error, this function executes, and then calls StopFcn. If you specify this property using a character vector or string scalar, when MATLAB executes the callback it evaluates the MATLAB code contained in the character vector. If you specify this property using a function handle, when MATLAB executes the callback it passes the timer object and an event structure to the callback function. The event structure contains the type of event in the Type field and the time of the event in the Data field. If your callback function accepts arguments in addition to the timer object and event data, specify this property as a cell array containing the function handle and the additional arguments. For more information, see Timer Callback Functions. Example: out = timerfind('ErrorFcn','disp("An error has occurred")') Timing Propertiesexpand allPeriod — Delay between executions 1 (default) | numeric scalar Delay between executions, specified, in seconds, as a number greater than 0.001. For the timer to use Period, you must set ExecutionMode and TasksToExecute to schedule multiple timer object callback events. Example: out = timerfind('Period',5) StartDelay — Delay between start of timer and first execution 0 (default) | numeric scalar Delay between start of timer and first execution, specified, in seconds, as a number greater than or equal to zero. When Running = 'on', StartDelay is read only. Example: out = timerfind('StartDelay',2) TasksToExecute — Times timer callback function is executed numeric scalar Times timer callback function is executed, specified as a number greater than zero. Use the TasksToExecute property to set the number of executions. To use TasksToExecute, you must set ExecutionMode to schedule multiple timer callback events. Example: out
