Linux Mint has for years been one of the most popular Ubuntu-based distros out there, with plenty of tweaks and refinements for both beginners and pros alike. Yesterday, the Mint team released Linux Mint 20.3 “Una,” the last Focal-based release, and we’ll take a look at it today. What’s New in Linux Mint 20.3 “Una”Linux Mint 20.3 is a long-term support release based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and is supported until 2025. It is available in Cinnamon, Xfce, and MATE flavors. This release ships with linux-firmware 1.187 and the Linux kernel 5.4.We start with the fact that Linux Mint 20.3 features an updated look and feel with larger title bar buttons, rounded corners, a cleaner theme, and support for dark mode. In other words, Mint’s appearance has received a minor but very welcomed facelift.Until now, the title bars were relatively small. In the 20.3 release, the Mint devs made them rounder with bigger buttons to make the desktop look more pleasant. In addition, the hover zone around the icons was also widened to make it easier to press the buttons. And I can’t disagree that it makes things look far better and easier to use.Linux Mint users who prefer the older style of the desktop can switch back to the original version by enabling the Mint-Y-Legacy theme to restore the previous theme used by the Linux distro. All you have to do is search for the mint-themes-legacy package and install it.We can’t fail to mention that Linux Mint 20.3 now features

Mac OS (MBuntu) Transformation pack is ready for Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic/14.04 Trusty Tahr/Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca/17 Qiana(Note: For best results use Unity/Gnome FallBack, and for previous Ubuntu versions link to posts are given)Finally after a lot of work Mac OS X (Macbuntu Yosemite) transformation pack is ready for Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn/14.04 Trusty Tahr. We could make everything automated but in this way you guys won't get how things done in Linux, so we kept everything semi-automatic and interactive. This pack contains themes for GTK (supports: Unity, Gnome, Cinnamon, Mate, and Xfce), two themes for Gnome Shell, one theme for Cinnamon, one icon theme, cursors, and boot screen. I collected some parts for themes from different sources (Cinnamon, Gnome Shell theme from Yosemite Shell, some parts from Zukimac) and Jared from ravefinity helped us fixing bugs in themes, and some icons also collected from different sources[1], docky themes are Ambiance and Buyi-idock. Following these instructions you can completely change look of your Ubuntu 14.10/14.04 to look like Mac. In previous pack we used LightDM webkit theme which was quite similar to Mac login screen, this time we are offering again but you have to use it on your own risk because many users reported problems last time.Mac packs for Linux are almost stopped but we kept this project on our list from 12.04, and now we have reached to 14.10 with Mac transformation. Many people look on the internet for pre-configured Macbuntu 14.10/Mac4lin, Mac Ubuntu theme and so on, but. Linux Mint Themes-Dark-Mint Theme:

Were removed. I liked them. They were ugly! I like them too! They weren’t my favorite, because the stripe wasn’t easy to distinguish between similar colors, especially for people with eyesight problems. One thing you could do, though: Download Mint 21.1’s Mint-Y icon theme, install it, then copy all of the Mint-Y-{color} folders from /usr/share/icons to either ~/.themes or ~/.local/share/icons. This will override the Mint 21.2 version for your current user account, even if it gets updated. Or if you’d like to have both, you can then reinstall the Mint 21.2 Mint-Y icon theme package and rename the folders you moved to your user account to whatever you’d like to call them (Mint-Y-Corner-Stripe-{color} or whatever), and both will show up in your Themes settings. Thank you very much Clem and team for your wonderful work, I just released Linux Mint Victoria on my Honor X15 laptop that I bought a week ago, and it works fantastic. Let me dare to suggest a native clipboard for linux Mint, as well as plasma has it would be a very useful functionality. I don’t speak English use the translator to write to them. Thanks again for a wonderful distro overall Linux Mint team. Running this happily on my Lenovo ThinkPad P51S. Looking forward to whenever the upgrade instructions from 21.1 to 21.2 comes out. Best wishes and have a good day. Boo to anything with headerbars. preach! Hi Clem, The upgrade to 21.2 went successful; however, I noticed that in the Systems Settings, under Display, the User Interface scale option of 125% is now missing. It was present in 21.2. Can that be added back, please? Hi Jim,In Display -> Settings -> Enable Fractional Scaling Controls. This was enabled by default during the mutter rebase, it shouldn’t have been since it’s an experimental feature. The feature is still there but simply disabled by default. Clem, please have this info added to Release Notes, I did not see .Would be good to put there how to enable it again. Upgrade via Update Manager is available and worked fine for me. Clem, first of all, congratulations on another great release! As a long time user of Linux Mint, it is awesome to see all the progress that was made over the years.I could not find this being

Of OpenStack. When you Install NGINX On Ubuntu 20.04, you benefit from its performance and scalability, making it a suitable choice for these advanced applications.Similarities Between Linux Mint and Ubuntu Both Linux Mint and Ubuntu share several similarities that make them appealing to a wide range of users. These similarities describe why both distributions remain popular choices for both beginners and experienced Linux users.1) Debian Foundation: Both distributions are built on the solid Debian foundation, a highly stable and well-respected Linux operating system. This shared base ensures consistent performance, reliable updates, and familiarity for users experienced with Debian. 2) Shared Software Repositories: A major similarity is their use of the same software repositories. This means that both Linux Mint and Ubuntu users have access to an identical range of applications and updates. As a result, the software available on one system is also accessible on the other, ensuring users always have access to the latest and most secure versions of their preferred applications. 3) Desktop Environment Flexibility: In terms of desktop environments, both distributions provide flexibility to cater to diverse user preferences. While Ubuntu comes with the GNOME desktop environment by default, it also supports alternatives like KDE, XFCE, and MATE. Similarly, Linux Mint is renowned for its Cinnamon desktop environment, which prioritises user-friendliness, but it also supports other options. 4) Software Compatibility: Another key similarity lies in software compatibility. Programs developed for Ubuntu are generally compatible with Linux Mint, as both use the same underlying system. This extends to PPAs (Personal Package Archives), enabling Linux Mint users to benefit from software created for Ubuntu’s extensive user base. 5) High Customisability: Lastly, both Linux Mint and Ubuntu are highly customisable, offering users the ability to tailor their systems to their liking. From themes and icons to applets and extensions, users

My main OS for over 7 years, and while I’ve tried some of the others, nothing has come close to replacing it. Hi Mint team,Thanks to everyone on the team for the great work on this new release, I love Linux Mint so much 💯❤️💯A lot of anticipation to try the new features (^o^)// I know WAYLAND. isn’t ready yet,but a lot of people are curiouswhen do you plan on supporting it? I agree. This needs to be a priority for Mint 22. Excelente 🙂 thanks I’ve been using the system for almost 3 years now and it’s getting better, congratulations on another release Clem and Mint Team, thank you so much for this elegant and comfortable release. Normally running LMDE 5, I tried out this live image for about an hour to see what would be coming in LMDE6. I couldn’t find any problems, or even anything I wish was different. Bravo! Thanks again. Congratulations on another successful release! How’s Cinnamon bug #11123 coming along (the one where the application menu applet content invisibly extends past the border of the menu, and if you click outside of the menu on order to close it, it will run a program you don’t want to run)? The bug was introduced in the first Mint 21 release, has been present in both 21 and 21.1, and I noticed the bug is still present in the newest 21.2 release, and it keeps tripping me up constantly. I’d really love to be rid of this frustrating bug, without having to revert back to 20.3. Congratulations Clem and team! All efforts respected and good job to everyone in the team who made this happen! I was facing keyboard issues with 21.1. After a long struggle, it looked like it’s due to kernal 5.15. I started seeing improvements after upgrading to 5.19. Yet some issues were observed. After upgrading to 21.2 beta, it was very rare.Somewhere down the line it might have fixed. Much awaited release. Hats off to everyone in the team. Hello Clem! I am Secret-chest from GitHub. I love Linux Mint, and as always, this release is great. Keep up the good work 😍.While I use custom themes, the new ones look great indeed. I only suggest changing the Nemo icon to a consistent app one instead of the folder icon. The styles are very interesting and a great way to easily present _your_ themes

Google Drive’s download icon and elsewhere). Is that a bug?2: Double clicking a title bar no longer maximises and resets it. Instead it leaves it there as just a title bar. I can’t see what the point of that is, and it screws up muscle memory from years of using Mint! I wish things like that were left alone and not changed. 🙁 Overall the new themes are nice, but there is a lack of contrast in some details. One color works well in some detail but in another. For example, if you just look at the dark Desktop (panel) themes: either the color accent is too bright for white text to be readable in tooltips, or the color accent is too dark for focused window button to be noticeable. One solution would be to use different brightness of one color in different details (brighter against darker backgrounds/elements and vice-versa) instead of using the same exact color hexcode across all elements. Hello, I’m physically disabled, the onboard on-screen keyboard is constantly up-to-date and this is my only request to get the best optimization. I wish you all the best, I wish you all the best… Turning ALL effects off is the best thing happened to linux Mint ever!!Finally, eye destructing free workflow! Thanks! Hellooo Mint,I am Microsoft user for as long as I remember, Well from DOS 6.22 area 🙂Recently I decided to improve my career and learn Linux as expert not regular user, so I searched for Best Linux Distro… I came to CentOS but soon IBM destroyed it and my next golden distro was Ubuntu but there are many Ubuntu branch. I tried Kubuntu, Kde neon, xubuntu, lubuntu, zorin os, elementary…NONE of above satisfied me!! NONE of them 🙁Now, I came to Mint, Simply I must say “Linux Mint Cinnamon” is what an OS must be!! LOVE IT SO MUCH EVEN MORE THAN MY GF 😀 Gestures are working really well. I can back/forward in firefox with 2 finger swipe on my trackpad. Thanks for the work! I wish there was acestream in the software manager because I couldn’t install it. After taking time to get used to the new themes, I should say that the new “vibrant” colors of Mint-Y hurt my eyes. Only some of the combinations, like pure grey, or grey with orange, do not cause visual discomfort. When I am working with items on a screen, I do not. How to install themes in Linux Mint - The Linux User

As we informed you previously, the stable version of Linux Mint 20.3 “Uma” is officially out. If you are using Linux Mint 20.2, you should already receive a notification for an upgrade. The upgrade process for all three Linux Mint editions, i.e., Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce, is the same. But before proceeding ahead, please ensure that the computer has a working internet connection. Here’s our Linux Mint 20.2 system before we start the migration process.1. Create a System SnapshotBefore upgrading, it is recommended to create a snapshot of the existing working Linux Mint 20.2 system. A snapshot is just a copy of the state of a system at a particular point in time. Therefore, if the upgrade process fails due to specific interruptions such as the internet or power failure, the snapshot will help you return to your Mint system’s stable state. For creating a snapshot, launch the Timeshift utility from the application menu. It is a built-in system backup and restores utility in Linux Mint.Click on the “Create” button to start the snapshot creation. After successfully creating the snapshot, you are good to close the Timeshift application.2. Prepare for the UpgradeMake sure the OS screensaver is disabled. This measure prevents the OS screen from locking during its idle timeout, which might interrupt the OS upgrade process.Launch the “Screensaver” utility from the Application Menu.Set “Delay before starting the screensaver” to “Never.”Close the application. If you have Cinnamon spices already installed, you might want to use the Systems Settings to run their upgrades. These Cinnamon spices include themes, desklets, extensions, and applets.Open the Update Manager from the Application Manu.If updates are available, click on the “Apply the Update” button. Then click the “Refresh” button and click on “Install Updates.”Once you ensure that your system is up-to-date, then from the update manager, choose Edit -> Upgrade to “Linux Mint 20.3 Una”.A window screen should pop up with some upgrade instruction guides, which you must carefully follow. Click Next to start the process. You can read about the new features and release notes on the next two screens if you want. Otherwise, click Next.In the Requirement screen, choose I Understand the risk. I want to upgrade to “Linux Mint 20.3 Una” and click Apply. If asked whether to keep or replace configuration files, choose to replace them.Enter your user password when prompted and hit Authenticate. The upgrader starts downloading packages and installing them on your Linux Mint 20.2 system. On a successful upgrade, you get a prompt like below that upgrade is complete.Restart the system for all changes to take effect. Upon restart, your computer will have the latest Linux Mint 20.3 “Una.”That’s it! Experience the new Linux Mint 20.3.

Deberian poner la opcion de desbloquear con huella dactilar, para los que tenemos portatiles con esa opcion integrada.

When I am working with items on a screen, I do not
