Quick formatting just wipes the data that tells the OS has files and where they are located. A normal high-level format does the same thing combined with a disk check. Either one is safe.The Windows installer will allow you to reformat the drive without any risk... It's usually hidden unless you take a more active role in the install (custom install) and when it gets to the screen where it shows you disk partitions and asks you which one to use, you'll need to click on "advanced" to expose the option. I was able to so this with speedfan with no problem! I just went into options and stumbled upon a checkbox that allows for compatibility with not only dell notebooks as the checkbox claims...it works across almost every dell computer, desktop OR laptop! So I already had Crystal Reports 9 installed on my machine and needed to upgrade to Crystal Reports 11 to create/configure some reports for my company. I decided to to download the trial version first to test it out. I contacted the Help Desk, who remotely logged into my machine as an administrator to install the program. I was emailed a key-code that was input at installation time and everything went smoothly, although the install itself took way longer than it should (3+ hours).Anyway, after the installation finished, I went to open a report file and was prompted by the license manager to add a key-code to proceed. I figured it would be the same one that was used at installation, but it wouldn't go through and kept giving me the error "The key code you just typed is not valid, please try again." Clicking cancel or OK without inputting any key-code will just cause the program to close. Has anyone experienced a similar issue and have any advice to get past this? Could it be because I already had an older version of Crystal Reports installed on my machine when I installed the CR 11 trail? Any help is greatly appreciated!
