IE 11 with Win 7 - IE has stopped working - Windows

One of the most common complaints among Internet Explorer version 10 users is its continual crashing. One minute you will be happily browsing the Internet, and the next you will receive a message stating, “Internet Explorer has stopped working and needs to close.” If this scenario sounds all too familiar, here are some tips and tricks that may just help you solve this problem. The number one reason Internet Explorer (IE) encounters problems is the introduction of Add-ons, Toolbars, Extensions, Junkware, and Spyware. Sometimes these programs can be reset or disabled by changing preferences in Internet Explorer, but often times disabling these programs does not solve the issues of IE crashes.*Unless noted, these instructions will work for Windows XP, 7, and 8 Operating SystemsFirst, make sure the Internet Explorer is completely shut down. Do this by closing any IE windows you have open. Next open the Task Manager by hitting the Shift + Ctrl + Esc buttons simultaneously. When the Task Manager window opens, look for any “iexplorer.exe” tasks that are running. Highlight these tasks and press the End Task button. “The Task Manager will show you all active programs” Now that you have stopped all Internet Explorer processes, you will now need to open Internet Properties.Open the Start menu and click on Control Panel. Then locate and click on Network and Internet Connections. Next click on Internet Options. “Internet Properties will give you many Internet related options” Now, locate the Advanced tab on the top right. Click to select the Advanced tab.Scan down the Advanced tab window and you will see a button that says Reset below the prompt to Reset Internet Explorer Settings. Click on the Reset button. “Reset your Internet Explorer settings”A prompt will now appear that asks you if you are sure you want to reset all the Internet Explorer settings. Have no fear, this is exactly what we want to do. Verify by clicking Reset at the bottom of the warning window. At this stage you have reverted IE to the state in which you initially installed it sans add-ons and the like. It should now function as it did when the IE 10 was first installed. If for some reason, you are still receiving the Internet Explorer has stopped working warning message, you may have to dig a bit deeper to fix the issue. In this case, you must tap into msconfig to remedy the problem.Below are the Internet Explorer msconfig fix instructions for Windows XP, Vista / 7, and 8:Click the Start button and select Run from the menu. In the Run menu, type “msconfig” and hit Enter. This will open the System Configuration Utility. Under the Selective Start Up area, uncheck Load Start Up Items. “The Windows System Configuration Utility screen” At the top of the window, select the Services tab. and put a check in the box next to Hide All Microsoft Services. “Choose Hide All Microsoft Services” Next select Disable All, click OK, and restart your computer. In doing this you have just disabled all non-essential Internet Explorer has stopped working (IE9 W7) Windows. discussion, windows-7. 9: 37: Decem Window internet explorer has stopped working. This crash also happens sometimes when qlikview is not actively used in that moment but open in a background tab.We have seen this behavior (IE 11 randomly crashing) for abou 3-4 months now and i tried to find the part causing that, but today i recognized that this behavior seems to only occur on clients where the QV plugin 11.20.13206 is installed, other windows clients with same basic installation but without qlikview plugin do not show these internet explorer crashes.Of course, i tried to reinstall qv plugin, reset IE to defaults, disabled av scanner but this has not fixed the problem.Installing an older version of qv plugin is also no solution because thsi would causing print problems on some dashboards. Any ideas on that topic ?

SHARE ARTICLE Where can I download Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 from? Why should I install it anyway?Although made obsolete by IE 6.0 and now IE 6.0 SP1, Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 is still a valid option for many users.Note: Microsoft has stopped supporting Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2. To download IE5.5 SP2 you’ll need to find a different link (with Google for example). I found one for you, but I don’t know how long it will last because it is an outside link that is NOT controlled by me. Try it and if you find that it stopped working please let me know. the Download Other IE Versions page for other IE versions. This version of Internet Explorer includes improved support for DHTML and CSS, which gives Web architects greater control over browser appearance and behavior. Enjoy the ability to preview Web pages exactly as they appear when printed. Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 (SP2) makes it easier than ever to connect to the Internet and find the information you need. With Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2, you can use Connection Manager as your default dialer when Dial-Up Networking is already installed. If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, installing Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 upgrades your computer to 128-bit encryption. If you are running Windows 2000 or Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), installing Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 will not change the current level of encryption on your computer. SHARE ARTICLE

I was forced to rebuild their computers so they can use them. I want to find a solution to this issue so I can solve it if the issue happens again and stop it from happening in the first place. In short, I need to know what causes this issue to happen (ex. update, 3rd party software, etc.) There must be something that connects these three users together but not others. #7 In 64-bit machines the Default IE 8 or 9 should be the 32-bit version. That is the version that runs by default on 64-bit machines. Which version are those users using? Thread starter #8 Im not sure what they were using. How can you tell if you are using the 32 bit or 64 bit version of IE? #9 Where does the IE Shortcut point to? If it is Program Files(x86) then that is 32-bit, if it is just Program Files, that is 64-bit. #10 You said you can't print .pdf files from IE9. Can you print other files or web pages from IE9 ? #11 How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating systemIE9 Internet Explorer has stopped working - when opening a pdf Status Not open for further replies.
