2025-04-17Photoshop Elements. It shows up toward the bottom of the info panel. People-tagging on Mylio is just that: You create a tag for each acquaintance, mark photos containing them, and then you can view all photos that include the tagged individual, but it doesn't include any face recognition technology. One shortcoming of Mylio's maps is that you can't search for a location; you just navigate to it on the map and give it whatever name you'd like. Mylio uses the excellent OpenStreetMap.org, and I'm happy to say that my iPhone photos' geotags were carried over at import, so I could pinpoint their locations on the map. Photo Editing All the standard tools are at your disposal: Exposure, Contrast, white balance (but without a dropper to pick a white point), shadows, highlights, sharpness, and saturation. There are even Lightroom-like Clarity and Vibrance adjusters. I also like the color sliders for black and white treatments, letting you separately adjust red, green, and blue filter strength. You can even copy and paste adjustment sets for use on other photos. Of course, serious photographers working on desktop PCs will likely want to use a more powerful, profile-based photo editor such as Lightroom, DxO Optics Pro, or Phase One Capture. Mylio, however, does let you import from your Lightroom catalog. Mylio on Mobile The case for Mylio becomes stronger when you install its iPhone app. The interface is appealing, with your collection thumbnails finger-skimmable. It not only syncs all your photos and videos immediately to your other Mylio apps, but it also gives you the same photo-editing tools as the desktop app. The ability to see your iPhone photos' location on a map is something you don't get in iCloud, but you do with Lightroom syncing. One nice thing about Mylio's syncing from iOS devices is that as soon as your turn on syncing, all your iPhone or iPad photos start syncing. With other services such as iCloud, by contrast, only the photos you take after enabling iCloud Photos are synced. One problem with Mylio's syncing, however, is that it wasn't completely reliable in my testing. On my home PC, everything synced promptly. But on my work PC, while some of my iPhone photos showed up eventually, there were plenty of black empty spots among my thumbnails. Even when I clicked on the black areas, the app didn't sync them immediately, as I'd expected. Instead, I got a message saying "Thumbnails can't be edited…" Heck, I didn't even have a thumbnail to look at. Sharing Mylio's standard share button offers email, Facebook, Flickr, along with printing and exporting. With Facebook, Mylio lets you chose a target album or create a new one. For emailing and
