Something on my laptop and then come back to my desktop and then it finally syncs? Im guessing it might delete something.... arghhhh!!!!!!!!!! #5 ? I have used firefox forever, so im slowly trying to see if i like chrome better. This happened to another one of my Chrome bookmark folders a while before - a less important one that I can't remember, don't worry about this one. From what I've read online, it sounds like it's something to do with syncing bookmarks across my devices. Recently, I had it set up so that my iPhone browser (Safari) bookmarks sync to my computer (I never actually saw the Safari bookmarks though). I only recently (within the last 2 weeks) set that up, and now, due to the disappearance of my bookmark folders, I have stopped the syncing across my devices. I though it might be hazardous and it was, unfortunately. Because of the number of bookmarks that I've accumulated over time within the folder that just disappeared, titled 'More Bookmarks (Unsorted)', I desperately want to recover the folder. I lost the folder on roughly April 9 (probably a few days before). I tried the solution suggested in this article ( but it was to no avail. After completing the steps outlined in the article my Chrome data folder looks like this (see screenshot attached) - I have highlighted the bookmark folders. This is extremely important to me. I have years worth of valuable bookmarks in that folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If someone who has experience in restoring bookmark folders can help that would be perfect. One of the best benefits of using iCloud is Safari syncing because it syncs all of your Safari bookmarks across all your Mac and iOS devices. As if that wasn’t enough, if you’re running Mountain Lion and iOS 6, each synced device can view and open Safari tabs from any other device.For me, the only downside of this feature is that it doesn’t always work. I’ve especially had problems getting my MacBook Pro (13-inch Retina display) to sync with changes I make on my Mac Pro. I am not alone. If you search Apple Support Communities, you find at least a half-dozen threads describing the same general issue.If this happens to you, my first recommendation is to quit and relaunch Safari. If that has no effect, log into your iCloud account (at www.icloud.com) from Safari. Doing so may jog iCloud into taking the appropriate syncing action. If there is still no success, restart your Mac.Assuming you’ve tried and failed with those routine fixes, here’s a remedy that’s pretty much guaranteed to work:1. From the Mac with the syncing problem, quit Safari.2. Launch System Preferences and select the iCloud pane. Before doing anything else, select Account Details and confirm that you are logged in to the same account as on your other Mac.To fix bookmark syncing problems, unselect the checkmark next to Safari. Then reselect it.3. From the list of items on the right, deselect the checkmark next to Safari. Wait 30 seconds or so.4. Reselect the Safari option. When a message appears asking if you want to merge your bookmarks, click the Merge button.When this message appears, click to Merge.5. Launch Safari. Your bookmarks should now be properly synced.Unfortunately, success may not last. Whenever I have done this, syncing almost always stops again within a few weeks. Recently, I decided to clean up the bookmarks on my Mac Pro. I deleted dozens of out-of-date links and changed the locations of dozens more. When I was at last satisfied with my handiwork, I turned to my MacBook Pro to confirm that syncing had occurred and that the changes were reflected there. Paste it into an email and send it to yourself, or use another method to copy it to your iOS device. Make sure you get all of it when you copy it, and then open Safari. Add any bookmark to your bookmarks folder (not the homescreen). Then, in the bookmarks list, activate edit mode, and click your bookmark. The URL section that was blocked when you added the bookmark is now possible to edit, so you can remove what’s there and paste in your bookmarklet code. Rename it appropriately, and you’re done!Once done, and have signed into LastPass once, the bookmarklets will allow you to auto-fill or auto-login to sites using these bookmarks. When on a site you have login info for, make sure the login field is on the screen, and hit the bookmarklet. It will then either fill or login for you (depending on which bookmarklet you used). It even works with sites you have multiple logins for, as it uses a small popup box to give you options, or error messages if something’s wrong.I still would have preferred a true plugin experience, but I’m happy just having this. I have no clue why the complicated syncing method is listed when you can just copy the code over, but something might have changed with regards to bookmarks to allow the new method to work (could you edit bookmarks before iOS 6? I don’t know). If you use LastPass, this is definitely a trick to try out, and if you don’t…does the ability to have unique, secure passwords for all sites and not have to worry about remembering them sound interesting?
