The first version of Bijoy was released in 16 December 1988. From then till the release of Unicode base Avro Keyboard it was the most used Bengali typing software. The second version of Bijoy was published in 2011 to make Unicode fully available. While retaining all the features of the first version, some new characters are added to the second version which are required for writing Unicode based Bangla.
