2025-03-28Wilpercy 2 posts wilpercy 1632210769 · Edited I recently bought an M1 iMac. My 2014 iMac still works but I am preparing to move to Photos on the M1. My Aperture library is on a 2TB external disk which I had copied using SuperDuper to a partitioned 4TB external disk. The cables for these two disks are different and I decide to use the 4TB disk as my Photos library on the M1. I haven't migrated this Aperture library to Photos on the M1 but bought HG and started to try geo stamping copies of photos I had in separate folders as a test. When using HG on the M1 I found that the Notify Libraries option was greyed out so I moved back to the 2014 iMac but continued to use the Aperture library on the 4TB disk. The 2TB 'original' version was now considered an off-site back up. I now found that photos in Aperture on the 4TB disk (which at first had been visible) now displayed a greyed out 'Missing' label. I came to this forum and read threads advising users to go to Aperture's preferences and make sure that it was able to share EXIF data with other apps. It wasn't but I rectified that.I rebooted everything and the photos reappeared ready to be loaded. I tested HG but found that the Notify libraries box in the export dialog was greyed out. I retrieved the 2TB 'original' Aperture libabry and have just tested it. Geo tagging worked and the Notify libraries option was available and worked. I shifted the location slightly of a couple of photos and found that they had indeed been altered in the Aperture files. How should I proceed? Why doesn't HG consider two identical copies of an Aperture library equally adjustable? I've since done a fair amount of work manually batch changing locations and dates in the 4TB copy library but that is the one HG won't play with. Do I have to go with the original library and abandon the work I did on the copy in the interim? Thanks for any help
