How to download and Install Altium 2025 - Altium
Parent article: System Installation, Licensing & ManagementInstallation of Altium Designer is both intuitive and fast, courtesy of the Altium Designer Installer. This wizard-based installer streamlines the initial installation process, while letting you choose the initial 'flavor' of the installation, in terms of installed functionality. This article takes a look at the procedure for installing Altium Designer on a computer. Each major version of Altium Designer is released as a separate full installation with unique default installation paths. This allows for side-by-side installation with other major released versions of the software. While it is possible to update to the next point release within a version 'stream', it is not possible to update from one version stream to the next, later version stream.Pre-Install PreparationTo access the Altium Designer Installer, you need to first download and run a small (approx. 11.3MB) executable – AltiumDesignerSetup.exe. This executable is downloaded from the Downloads page of the Altium website, and can be saved anywhere on your hard disk. Each version of the software has its own dedicated installer.Running the InstallerDouble-click the AltiumDesignerSetup.exe file. The Altium Designer Installer welcome page will appear. Initial welcome page for the Altium Designer Installer. The installer itself is wizard-based, providing a set of progressive (and intuitive) pages that collectively gather the information to effectively install the version of the software, and its initial feature set, as you require.Click Next to continue. The following sections provide a summary of the various pages you will encounter.License AgreementThis page of the Installer presents you with the Altium End-User License Agreement (EULA). Read and accept Altium's End-User License Agreement. Before you can continue with the installation of the software, you must read through, and accept, the terms of this agreement. The agreement can be viewed in different languages, including English (the default), German, Chinese and Japanese.Clicking the Advanced button will access an Advanced Settings pop-up window. From here, you are able to specify proxy-settings, if applicable. Click OK to effect any changes and return to the License Agreement page. Specify the use of basic authentication using proxy settings, as part of advanced options for the install. With the EULA read, continue with the install by checking the I accept the agreement box and clicking the Next button.Installation ModeIf you already have Altium Designer installed, and are running the installer for a subsequent point release within the same version stream (e.g. installing Altium Designer 17.0.x, and Altium Designer 17.0.x-1 is already installed), an additional page of the Altium Designer Installer wizard will be available - Installation Mode. This page gives you the choice of either updating an existing version instance of Altium Designer, or installing as a separate new version instance. Choose the New installation option to maintain separate version instances of Altium 365 Platform Interface. With the package selected or currently being viewed, use the button to open the Sharing window where re-sharing can be applied, if you have sufficient privileges to do so. Note that the Advanced Settings and the ability to share with an organization are available to members of the 'source' Workspace only – the Workspace where the package is shared from. Downloading the Build PackageThe full release package can be downloaded from any of the pages within the Manufacturing Package Viewer (except the Structure area, where downloads are 'single file'):This downloads a single Zip archive containing a folder for each data set included in the package, which can then be passed to manufacturing to fabricate and assemble the board. The ability to download the package will depend on whether the author of the package has enabled that setting for you or not. A build package can also be downloaded from within the Shared with Me page of the Altium 365 Platform Interface. Selecting a manufacturing package tile will present various controls and commands. Click the control and choose the Download command, or click the button (at the top-right of the page), to download the package as a Zip archive.Deleting a Shared Manufacturing PackageYou can delete any manufacturing package that has been shared with you, and is currently presented on the Shared with Me page of the Altium 365 Platform Interface. To do so, select the manufacturing package tile, click the control, and then choose the Delete command. A warning window will appear alerting you to the fact that the package will be permanently deleted – you will no longer have access to it, but other collaborators will continue to have access. A member of the organization's IT department. Can I connect to multiple Altium NEXUS Servers? You can only be 'signed in' to one Altium NEXUS Server at any given time, since you are connecting to a platform of services, rather than to a single Server service. Typically an organization will have a single Altium NEXUS Server installation. However, if more than one Altium NEXUS Server is available, simply sign out of one and sign in to another, as required. From Altium NEXUS, you can still sign in to a legacy Altium Vault (Vault 2.0 to 3.0), or connect to a legacy Altium Personal Vault: Altium Vault - sign out of your active server, then use the Sign in dialog to sign in to the Altium Vault. Altium Personal Vault - sign out of your active server, then use the Sign in dialog to connect to the Personal Vault. Remember that for a Personal Vault you are connecting, not signing in - so the Altium NEXUS GUI will not show you as being signed in to any server after successful connection to the such a vault.Once you have signed in/connected to a target entity it will be listed in the Known Servers region, on the Data Management - Servers page of the Preferences dialog in Altium NEXUS.While legacy Vault technologies can still be connected to, and used, there is no further development to these types of Vault. You will therefore not enjoy the current enhancements found in, and future improvements gained by, using the Altium NEXUS Server.I'd still like to run my Altium Personal Vault, is this possible?Absolutely. If you have a previous flavor of Vault running on the same PC ensure that the communication ports are unique. An Altium NEXUS Server uses the default port 9780 (same as for its Altium Vault predecessor), an Altium Personal Vault uses the default port 9680.To make your Personal Vault a 'Known Server' in Altium NEXUS - on the Data Management - Servers page of the Preferences dialog - sign out of your active server, then use the Sign in dialog to connect to the Personal Vault. Remember that for a Personal Vault you are connecting, not signing in - so the Altium NEXUS GUI will not show you as being signed in to any server after successful connection to the such a vault. You can then sign back in to the server that was active previously,Download Altium Designer - Viewer Edition by Altium Limited

Created: June 06, 2019 | Updated: April 22, 2021 | Applies to version: 1.1 Concord Message This documentation page references Altium Concord Pro, which has been discontinued. All your PCB design, data management and collaboration needs can now be delivered by Altium Designer and a connected Altium 365 Workspace. Check out the FAQs page for more information. Altium Concord Pro 1.1Released: 21 August 2020 - Version: 1.1.10 (build 99)Released: 10 April 2020 - Version: 1.1.9 (build 89)Released: 5 February 2020 - Version: 1.1.8 (build 80)Released: 14 January 2020 - Version: 1.1.7 (build 76)Released: 24 October 2019 - Version: 1.1.6 (build 66)Released: 1 August 2019 - Version: 1.1.4 (build 56)Release Notes for Altium Concord Pro 1.1This release sees further beneficial enhancements to Altium Concord Pro and its related technologies. In addition, numerous fixes have been made to resolve issues raised by customers through the AltiumLive Community. While the Altium Concord Pro installer includes automated backup of your existing installation, it is always a good idea to make a pre-update backup of your data yourself – taking a redundancy copy off to one side as it were. This provides additional safety, should any unforeseen technical difficulties arise (see Backing up and Restoring Your Installation). It is advised to test out a new release of Altium Concord Pro on a different machine, before updating your production instance. Use of Virtual Machines can be invaluable in this respect. In addition, please ensure that you refresh your Concord Pro licensing. From the Admin - Licenses page of Concord Pro's browser interface, delete the existing licenses (Altium Concord Pro and Altium Concord Pro CAL) and then add fresh instances back in. This will ensure you have the latest licensing, incorporating any licensing-related feature changes. While connection to Altium Concord Pro 1.1 is possible from Altium Designer 19.0, users are encouraged to update to the latest version of Altium Designer – especially where Server enhancements relate to changes to the user interface within Altium Design.GUI Change This release sees Concord Pro's browser interface given a 'GUI Makeover' - switching to a dark interface that is more in-keeping with the familiar look and feel of Altium Designer. Since Altium Designer and Altium Concord Pro are, in essence, symbiotic work partners, having them similarly themed gives a stronger feeling of consistency. While much of the content of the interface remains the same, you will notice some enhancements to controls here and there, to present an intuitive, sleek interface with which to interact with, and manage your Concord Pro installation. For more information about what Concord Pro's browser interface has to offer, and a great place to get a feeling for what has changed with the GUI, see the page Exploring the Browser-based Interface.New Interface for Managed Projects This release sees theAltium - Download a free trial of Altium Designer! Machine. This is required to properly run the Altium NEXUS Server backup Command utility (avbackup.exe). Appropriate DBA access to the Oracle server (i.e. Add user’s Windows account to DBA role in Windows environment).Backup Procedure On the Altium NEXUS Server Host machine: Create a backup folder (it helps to have common file paths, for example: C:\Backups). Backup your Altium NEXUS Server data by running the avbackup.exe tool as Admin. The tool is located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Altium\Altium NEXUS Server\Tools\BackupTool folder. Example backup commands: Command line to navigate to the backup tool directory: cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Altium\Altium NEXUS Server\Tools\BackupTool\. Command line to backup the Altium NEXUS Server data into the file named Q2_Backup.zip, writing the file to the folder C:\Backups: avbackup backup -z "C:\Backups\Q2_Backup.zip" -i "C:\Program Files (x86)\Altium\Altium NEXUS Server\LocalVault.ini". On the Oracle Database Server Host machine: Create a backup folder (it helps to have common file paths, for example: C:\Backups). Backup your Oracle data (this section assumes that the user account and schemas are both named ANSUSER313 and have password Altium): Launch a command prompt with Admin privileges. Stop IIS Servers using command: net stop WAS. Temporarily elevate involved schema to DBA status before backup. Backup/Export the schema associated with the Altium NEXUS Server. An example of an export command is: exp ANSUSER313/Altium@xe owner=ANSUSER313 file=c:\Backups\ANSUSER313.dmp log=c:\Backups\ANSUSER313_export.log statistics=nonewhere,ANSUSER313 – user that has full privileges on scheme and rights to access the DB.Altium – password for Oracle user account associated with the Altium NEXUS Server.xe – network service name of target DB contained in tnsnames.ora.owner = ANSUSER313 – name of the schema.file = c:\Backups\ANSUSER313.dmp – backup location.log = c:\Backups\ANSUSER313_export.log – backup log (optional).ConclusionAlthough the aforementioned example includes additional details pertaining to the handling of an Oracle Database, there are only three key steps to backing up your Altium NEXUS Server data: Step 1 is to stop the IIS services and NEXUS Server IIS Application Pools. Step 2 is to backup the Altium NEXUS Server data. Step 3 is to backup the Oracle data associated with the Altium NEXUS Server.Performing this procedure in the order described greatly reduces the likelihood of data corruption due to Oracle database and NEXUS Server binary data mismatch.
