Instaled an HP MFP LJ100 175nw, when I try to scan from Acrobatr XI, I get a message "Acrobat cannot communicate with this scanner". Scanner driver has been reinstalled, Acrobat XI as well. On Windows, there are a few things you can try, take a look at this answer I provided a while ago with some screenshots: On a Mac, you can go into your preferences and select the "Convert To PDF" category, then change the scanner driver from TWAIN to ImageCapture. Sometimes, Acrobat will just not work with your scanner. In that case, use the scanner software that came with your scanner to scan your documents either directly to PDF, or to TIFF images, then use Acrobat to open the PDF, or to convert the TIFF images to PDF (File>Create>Combine...) and then use Tools>Document Processing>Optimize Scanned PDF to apply the same optimizations that Acrobat would have used if you would have scanned straight into the application. Disapointing support. I may have accidently found one answer. I went into my scanner settings and found that somehow my connection got switched from local to network. When I changed it to local suddenly the printer's scanner program, but more importantly Adobe Acrobat X Pro, regained the ability to scan to pdf. Can you scan into other applications? If you can, you do have the driver installed. Sometimes people don't realize that in addition to a printer driver, a multi-functional device also needs a scanner driver for the scanner to work. If you've already installed the TWAIN driver, then you are all set as far as the driver goes. You can test if you can scan by using the software that came with your EPSON scanner. Even if you cannot make your scanner work with Acrobat, you can still use Acrobat's features to optimize your scanned document: Scan with the software that came with your scanner, either directly to PDF if there is such an option, or to TIFF images. Make sure that you select a reasonable scan resolution (e.g. 600dpi black&white or 300dpi grayscale or color). Once you have scanned your document, open Acrobat and import these scanned page. If you were able to scan directly to PDF, just open the PDF file. If you have a number of TIFF images, select File>Create>Combine... and select all your TIFF images in the correct order. Make sure that you click on the Options button and select "Large file size" and Single PDF. Now that the document is in Acrobat, you can run Tools>Document Processing>Optimize Scanned PDF to apply the same processing steps that you could have applied when scanning directly into Acrobat.
