Thread--> Member I've been using CladDVD, DVD2Avi and TMPGenc for ripping but want to give DVDx a chance, but don't want to wear out my DVD drive. I plan to use smartripper first, then DVDx for all the rest of the operation.How long does smartripper take for a typical 2hr DVD (I have a Pioneer x16 and CladDVD would normally take no more than 2hrs) and is it comparable with CladDVD?Many thanks,Will Member Damn it takes you 2 hours to rip a DVD with cladDVD it takes me less then 30 to rip with cladDVD....with samrtripper it will take no more than 25 minutes with a 16x drive but it will take longer if you dont have DMA mode on for your hardrive and DVD-drive Member Maybe I was a little persimistic but certainly more than an hour for 120mins. Forum Video DVD Ripping Ripping Hannah Montana, unsuccessfully [RESOLVED] Thread--> Member [RESOLVED] Hi, I just bought the Season 1 DVD set of Hannah Montanna (yeah, I'm a big fan) but was ripped myself, of $34 bucks cause no one else had it stores. Anyway, I love this show and a huge fan, yada yada.So, I can't seem to rip my disc. I'm stuck at disc 1 and it keeps saying can't read block, abort; retry; ignore;Anybody familiar with this type of error and know how to remidy ?I'm using Smartripper v2.34 and its ripped everything else I've ever done, not that I go around ripping dvds--been a long time since I've a full dvd let alone a tv series. But I have a purpose: to test one of my deinterlace routines on it to convert to progressive. I've done many on all my analog cable tv captures, but since this is an actual dvd set, I figure that they may have done a few things differently and my deinterlacer might come out more clean than my *noisy* analog version. Member nope you must use the DVD2AVI Will Hay, I'm glad to hear the speed has increased, although I would recommand you use either Smart Ripper or DVD Decryptor, I believe those two are the best currently available, i'm not a big fan of CladMdec or CladDVD, not many options on. But, I only quickly reviewed it.Being on dialup, I don't alway have the energy levels to download anything more than a couple of MB's. But for now, I'm still perfectly fine capturing various videos. For the past 6 or so months, I was capturing this tv series via analog cable tv and making the best of it. I picked up the first season dvd set for personal use but then the thought occured to me that I wanted to rip at least one episode so that I could analize the fields for possible better deinterlacing methods, plus I wanted to see if the analog cable tv version was any different than the commerical dvd: you know, maybe it was progessive, or maybe it was film or maybe it was interlace, etc.etc. So, I grabbed my rusty smartripper tool and started her up and stumbled..asked a couple of dumb questions (possibly answered years ago) and then finally resolved it on my own.I asked for help simiply because I didn't want to go through another ordeal of problems. I was not warzing my own collection. Okay, I have "Pop Art: Pet Shop Boys: The Videos" On the DVD there are 38 regular videos and 3 extended videos. When I use Smartripper, I only get the first 21 videos... It says the DVD is over 7 Gigs, and I end up selecting only 3.5 gigs...Anyone come across a similar situation?I've check the other "titles" on the disk, I still can't get the last 17 videos. Every time I try, I get no picture and the french audio track (no matter which track I choose in vStrip). Is there something I'm missing here? I play the vobs with winDVD 3.0 and the audio is french. Yet when I play it with PowerDVD, the audio is the regular english, 6ch. 384kbps track that i chose to rip in vStrip. Those two.As for cutting down the process, you could rip directly from the DVD using DVDx and I believe also with Flask, however it is not recommanded, as a PC Technician I can tell you i've seen DVD drives that were overheated they no longer functioned, so I don't think you should.As for going to a two step process, you can do a ripping and use DVDx / Flask for encoding, although having DVD2AVI and using TMPGEnc I believe is currently the best method and give you the most options.
