Microdyne Corp., 26 F.3d 471, 478-79 (4th Cir. 1994). To support even a reasonable inference of scienter, however, the complaint must describe the violations with sufficient particularity; "a general allegation that the practices at issue resulted in a false report of company earnings is not a sufficiently particular claim of misrepresentation." Gross v. Summa Four, Inc., 93 F.3d 987, 996 (1st Cir. 1996) (quoting Serabian v. Amoskeag Bank Shares, Inc., 24 F.3d 357, 362 n. 5 (1st Cir. 1994)).
