Plankton puts on a belt, fires up his flamethrower, puts on his wielding mask, and lights up candles with his flamethrower. He jumps onto the tub, turns the faucet prepares a nice, warm mud bath.]Plankton: [spins with the faucet and flies off] Wah! Krabs takes the cash register and swallows it. SpongeBob replaces the Galley Grub menu with the Planky Plates menu. Squidward puts up the banner with the words, "Happy 90th B-Day" on it. SpongeBob swallows some balloons and blows them up inside his body. He float in the air with the balloons. Squidward and SpongeBob cover the word, "Krab" with a plank that spells "Plankton" on the Krusty Krab sign. A customer throws away his food in a Plankton-themed trash can. SpongeBob puts Plankton hats on the heads of three customers. SpongeBob replaces a couple's soda with a Plankton-themed soda cup. SpongeBob paints the tables to look like Plankton's eye. Other than above, I also love the bit with SpongeBob going to the dumpster and freaking out every step of the way, and how Squidward keeps his deadpan snark going even when telling a scary story and in the face of fear. As someone who typically works at night, it gets pretty quiet being in the kitchen all by myself for hours on end, so I really wish I had a SpongeBob to joke around with.Krusty Love? Anyone who correctly guesses how many seeds are in the sesame seed jar wins a free Krabby Patty. Several people make guesses, each more ridiculous than the last. The next contestant is Plankton, but before he can guess, Mr. Krabs grabs him by the antennae and takes him outside. Plankton claims it is unfair that he does not get to guess; however, Mr. Krabs says that he can do whatever he pleases and that he knew all Plankton would do is analyze the Krabby Patty to steal his secret formula. Mr. Krabs then chews Plankton up, inflates him, and blows him away, where he splatters onto the door of the Chum Bucket. Plankton calls the Bogus Business Bureau on him, but Mr. Krabs is unconcerned.At the Krusty Krab, agents burst through the roof along with Agent Twirp, who tells Mr. Krabs he must accept guesses from all customers no matter how "diminutive" or "annoying" they are. Plankton pops out of Twirp's shirt pocket, proudly proclaiming he is both. KRUSTY COOK-OFF: EXTRA-KRUSTY EDITION, Mr. Krabs has decided to open a pancake kiosk outside the Krusty Krab, and he's assigned SpongeBob to work it. So SpongeBob is not only responsible for cooking the pancakes and putting jelly on them when asked. He also has to serve the pancakes and the coffee, and collect the money (though he does seem to have someone busing the tables). In doing so, he not only makes Mr. Krabs happy (well, as happy as Mr. Krabs can be) -- which could get him moved up to making burgers and other foods -- but he also gets to interact with many of his fellow Bikini Bottom residents. Exclusive to the Switch version are four new power-ups to help SpongeBob get orders done faster, 400 levels to complete, new challenges, and plans for future downloadable content. Is It Any Good? Our review: Parents say (2): Kids say (2): It isn't the best version of this entertaining cooking game, but this arcade game is still a fun time with the friendly sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea. Previously available on PC and mobile devices, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off: Extra-Krusty Edition has Mr. Krabs opening a pancake stand outside the Krusty Krab and assigning SpongeBob to man it. Er, sponge it. Using simple controls, you not only have to make pancakes -- pouring the batter, taking them off the grill, adding jelly when requested -- but also serve coffee. Performing these tasks means that he'll not only earn the money for some new sunglasses, but also move up to making burgers and other food. In other words, this is just like Cooking Mama with SpongeBob, with all the frantic foodie fun that implies.The problem is that this version of the game doesn't work as well as either the mobile version or Cooking Mama. For starters, you use the buttons and thumbsticks of the Switch to do things as you move around the kitchen. This works fine, but not nearly as well as the far more intuitive touchscreen would for this kind of point-and-click game. Secondly, the challenge is lessened when hitting the "serve" button gives pancakes to whoever wants them, even if they're not first in line. If the first customer orders plain pancakes, and the second orders them with jelly, and you hit "serve" when there's only jelly pancakes waiting, customer #2 gets served while customer
